Hi all, looking like a white Christmas in CNY [emoji5]

The view at camp today:

Got some Christmas eve roasting done, El Salvador Providencia, Costa Rica Hellen, and one set of Kopi Luwak (aka civet poop [emoji5]).

Time for a workout, then we'll do a second round of Lights on the Lake. We're due for a good 6" of snow tonight and tomorrow, with a bit more the next few days.

Every year,we struggle with what to get my dad and stepmom for Christmas,so we usually go with gift cards so they can get whatever. This year, thanks to Diver inspiring me with his pen pics, this will be their gifts this year.My dad is an avid hunting and shooting fan,so i found a pen kit that looks like a bullet with bolt action mechanism that he should really like,i built it with a walnut center section since a lot of gun stocks are made from walnut.I also made him a regular pen from cherry, then found a cool pen case that looks like a rifle case to put them.I made a few for my stepmom as well, hers are red alder and mahogany in a very nice rosewood case.I think they will appreciate these quite a bit more than the normal gift cards.

These are gifts that will be cherished for a long long time. The cases were an excellent idea. Where did you find the "gun case" for your dads' pens?

I seen them on a few sites, but most were on back order, they are branded by Pen state,so i checked there page and they had them,so i got the case and bolt action pen kit both from them.Once i seen that case,i was determined to get it,and was getting aggravated when every place i looked was out of stock haha.
They come with a foam cutout for 1 pen,but you can buy the extra foam that has cutouts for 2,i think the extra insert was like $2.50 or so,and the case was only like $5.99 or somewhere close to that.

DW and I had a bit of the Kopi Luwak coffee today, done as a French press. It's a very smooth Arabica.

A nice, quiet, Christmas.

It's looking like a year end cold snap is on the way, 8 days of 0 - 15 degree temps. I'm thinking it'll be time to fire up the wood stove in the great room [emoji5]

Merry Christmas ya'll!

@markfm I received a lovely smelling package from you a couple days ago and have been meaning to send my gratitude! Had 2 cups today. That Brazil blend is fantastic :)

We were s'posed to get a foot today but only got like 3 inches so we have maybe 6-8 total. The next 6-ish nights are below zero, several of them 20 below or so. To most, that probably means staying inside. To a sloth, that means ice skating on the lake :)

We've stayed in the low 50's pretty much. Some days last week were in the 70's, which was nice. I see we're supposed to get to the low 40's later this week, tho. Guess I need to make a mail run on whatever day is warmest this week.
I'm trying to rev myself up to make Hoppin' John for New Years. I think I'm in hibernation, tho.

To this one it means, I've been kidnapped, and transported to a hostile environment. o_O

I've experienced nothing lower than 15° ... didn't much care for it.

Well, another Christmas has now past and a new year is just around the corner. I received a couple great gifts from my daughter, an Angleizer Template for woodworking and a BB-8 Lego set. I guess she thinks if I keep busy I will stay out of her hair. LOL
I wish every one of my online families a wonderful Christmas, Kawanza, Hanukkah or Happy Holiday. I look forward to hearing all everyone has done in 2017 and their plans for 2018. Now I am off to work on my BB-8 Lego kit.

As you know DH and I don't do Christmas any more but I got an unwanted gift anyway… a rotten cold…just being sarcastic but I feel like crap.

On the 2018 plans… not much…going to Savannah for a couple days in March, attending a couple of Orchid shows, trying a few new tomato varieties in the garden and enjoying retired life.
