@markfm I hope your cold goes away faster than mine. Mine started on Christmas day and is not showing signs of going away. It attacked both my head and chest. I feel like a faucet.

And the only way I can vape is by using a little mod that under normal conditions wouldn't be very satisfying because it doesn't put out much. But anything else right now gives me coughing fits and my throat and chest don't need encoursgement in that department.:(

The insidious Trend of Size Manipulation by Corporate Suits these days runs rampant and unrelenting ..

Toilet Paper Rolls :: Narrower
Crest Pro Health Toothpaste :: shrinks from 6 ounces to 5.1 ounces
Ice Cream :: 56 OZ to 48 OZ
Wish Bone Salad Dressing :: 16 OZ to 15 OZ
Pringles :: 6 OZ to 5.5 OZ
Coffee :: Going from a Can that Made 270 Cups to 210 Cups
Nathan's Hot Dogs :: From a Pound down to 12 OZ

This List is not all Inclusive, as I'm sure everyone knows .. at this rate, at some point, products will all be reduced to "Travel Size" .. yet, prices stay the same or even go up .. o_O
But the packaging stays pretty close to the same to fool people.

I always check the per unit price on everything. Amazing what a difference that can make, especially with those store specials …buy 1 get one free.

The pulse bf is dead; long live the pulse bf!

I had a weird failure this morning. Best I can tell the pulse bf 510 connector had an internal short condition. Lots of current, the plastic body slot that the positive metal band is set in deformed a bit, battery got warm, and the fire button switch has had a partial failure, though it opened (turned off) as soon as I released the button.

Internal short because no power was going to my rda, zero vapor. The rda was fine (0 56 ohm twisted 28), is still fine, working well on my backup pulse bf. It's a wasp nano, delrin top cap, pretty much impossible to short.

The switch is now obviously flaky, sometimes it'll drive power, other times not. The travel is different than in a good switch, and it often makes slight noises when depressed signaling a part has come loose and is rubbing/catching, or the noises/feel you get with a bad spring.

Time to see what VandyVape CS is like this time [emoji5] I did contact Tony B, he's only heard of a couple total failures in the power path across quite a few sets shipped. I also posted on Mooch's pulse bf switch test Reddit thread, to keep him in the loop.

No harm for me, especially since I had my backup $20 black Friday pulse bf nearby [emoji5] OTOH a newer person might not know enough to put the mod aside, be able to figure out that it's likely a 510 connector problem that could reoccur, or that if the switch acts oddly it's not to be used.

Thanks for the info, I have been thinking of getting one, now, not so much. Gonna look at regulated squonks, but they are so expensive:(

Overall I still like it, am willing to accept it was a fluke, have no issues using my second unit and waiting for vv customer service to take care of the first one

OTOH, I was checking out what else is available in decent, affordable, 20700 mechs and found a few UK reviews by people I trust.

Authentic Hugo Squeezer Black 10ml 20700 BF Squonk Mechanical Box Mod

I like that it has a classic full mech implementation, and comes with a spare bottle, refill bottle, and 18650 adapter. I'll add a small piece of garage door weatherstrip under the negative contact (I did that in the Cloupor mini, it worked great to keep the contact from loosening with use). I may add a couple of my spare small magnets to the door, too, but that's up in the air.

The UK reviewers are consistent in saying it hits well, meaning low internal resistance. Looking at the internals it makes sense, a beefy contact area.

I'm comfortable with mechs, really like their simplicity, though they're definitely not for everyone.

Krusty: Kangertech Dripbox 2 Starter Kit White

I have one of these, and I quite like it. Keep the build around 0.75Ω, and you might only need change the battery once (single battery device)

My thought for the New Year:

Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved grave but rather to skid in broadside thoroughly used up, totally worn out and loudly proclaiming "WOW, what a ride!"

Happy New Year everyone!

I should have no problem qualifying for "used up"!

If anyone is interested in a PIF, I've got an unopened blue tfv8 x-baby beast from a contest awhile back. Anyone is welcome to it, it's just not anything I'd use (I mainly squonk nowadays, and when not doing that I run single coil RTAs.)
