User error, I had something that seated too far (a bad 510 extender), messed up the positive pin. Strictly my whoops.

I'm a big fan of that device, a steal. Base tweaks:
-A little piece of plastic to shorten the throw on the fire button. I used a rectangle cut out of a plastic box I had lying around. Purely user preference.
-A tiny piece of closed cell rubber (under the negative contact), to make sure it doesn't weaken with use. I'd had no issues with it, but learned to do that with my cloupor mini. I use a tiny bit of some garage door weather strip I have around.
-I filled the air slots on the 510 connector top plate with some jb weld. The connector has deep air slots, for bottom intake cartomizers, bizarre for a modern squonker. If you don't fill the slits you may get some leak on the mod top when squonking.

It doesn't leak (other than for potentially on the top air slots), seems to have low internal resistance, and has stood up to 3' falls onto concrete with no damage (I'm a klutz).

"closed cell rubber"? I'm curious because I too have an old Cloupor Mini that I seldom use because of how easily the bottom contact gets squashed.

It's a moderately compressible foam/rubber weatherstrip.

Cut a little piece and shove it under the negative battery contact, using a little pick or nail.

Since I did that, no problem with the mini contact, including multiple drops. The weatherstrip acts like a small shock absorber.

You can bend the contact up slightly to make it easier to install, then push it back down.

I can send a bit in an envelope. (It's scrap material )

I can't count the number of times I have knocked my mod over or dropped it. The other day I knocked it over and the pyrex broke. Not a problem as I have plenty extras. I cleaned up the mess and got the K5 put back together. When I went to take a hit it was like the temp was set at 1000°. Nothing I did made any difference. I just set it aside and figured I had hit the limit of abuse that the Kanger K1 can take. A couple days later I decided to hook the K1 up to escribe and see what was wrong. I reloaded the profile and BAM! The K1 has returned to being my favorite mod. I should have thought of it sooner but I'm just happy that I thought of it. Not only am I a klutz but I'm also not a fast thinker.

The k1 is a sweet little mod. I caught one of the $20 specials last year, very nice for a dna75.

It's a heavy bugger, though. I snagged one as well. I like it!

I picked up a couple "newbies" - one was a prize in a raffle, and the other was just BECAUSE.... Pix in a sec.

Hope everyone is doing well. It's OFFICIAL - I'm now the (part-)owner of a trailer in FLORIDA!!!!!!

@DingerCPA, does that mean you will be coming here more? I hope to meet up one day.

I still have limited vacation time during the year. However, I did bring up the topic of working from FL occasionally. My boss said that could certainly be possible! But, lots of other logistics to work out before that time comes.

I'm hoping to get down there every year. I'm sure the stars will align, @clnire :)

I sure hope you get to use it in proportion to your investment. SO shouldn't get the biggest benefit from the deal she talked you into. ;)

She needs to be down there more for health reasons. I'll certainly get down there as much as I can. If it helps her, the investment is worth it

Congrats on picking up a snowbird retreat, Dinger!

I'd love to get a place down South for winters, but dw really loves our house (a lot of work on orchard and garden) and camp (simply a wonderful location in the summer), so anything we get would have to be really simple. A bit of land near water (divable, ideally, for SCUBA), a place for a trailer or RV (I'd prefer a trailer, simpler to get there, though multiple days of driving with dogs can be entertaining [emoji5]). I've been leaning towards the Carolinas, though if there's anything in the Florida interior that might be nice.

I'm pretty flexible, but DW likes somewhat more cosmopolitan areas. She's pure Chinese, concerned about sticking out too much.

@markfm I understand DW's points about house, orchard and garden. I too adored my house up north and my orchard and garden. And if we could have afforded to keep all that and buy something in Florida to just spend winters we would have done so. I hated leaving all that behind but hated the November-March weather more.

First, the water and icemaker in my fridge quit working so I thought maybe the filter needed replacing. Nope! I pulled the fridge out from the wall and discovered that mice had been chewing the tubing for the water. I replaced all of the water lines and it is still leaking, well just a drip but still not good.
Our ice maker is still working, but the water quit awhile back. Hope that's not the reason. We did have rats in the garage, but got on em quick, so haven't ever seen any in the house. It will take forever for my son to have the time and gumption to actually look at it to see what might be the problem.

Picked up mail yesterday & enjoyed some amazing deliciousness this morning! TY, Mark! I needed something special this morning!

There is a huge Asian population in the coastal areas here. I say coastal just because that's where I live. Houston isn't 'on' the coast, but close enough to call it that. They have an area they call Chinatown but the little town I live in has a Cambodian community just outside town. There are temples all over. Many Vietnamese, Korean, etc. No one stands out or looks twice. It's just not a thing.
