There is a huge Asian population in the coastal areas here. I say coastal just because that's where I live. Houston isn't 'on' the coast, but close enough to call it that. They have an area they call Chinatown but the little town I live in has a Cambodian community just outside town. There are temples all over. Many Vietnamese, Korean, etc. No one stands out or looks twice. It's just not a thing.

I finally got a hairdryer and have started to rewrap some batteries!!!! First attempt, though, I dropped one, and it tore the wrapper I'd just put on :sad:

But, I can now start replacing wrappers without fear. Just hold in tongs with silicone grips and shrink away!!!!!!!!

And tonight, Cucumber Caprese salad with a glass (or more) of wine!!!!! Happy, Happy, Happy!!!!!!

(salt water has more colorful fish, but I'm happy any time I'm in the water.)

We're spoiled in the northeast, a lot of decently deep lakes, pretty affordable property if you hunt around a bit.

That's a good idea,your fingers get hot a whole lot faster than the battery wrap when you hold it while heating it up haha.

Many of my mods won't handle a double-wrapped battery. I finally filed down a rough spot on one of my DripBox 160s. I'd snagged a couple of wraps and have since been hesitant to use it. Batts slide in and out now without any friction.

The k1 is a sweet little mod. I caught one of the $20 specials last year, very nice for a dna75.

That is when I got my K1. I wish I had gotten 2, I can't afford another now.

Before I retired from the Navy, I got a call and was flown to Bath, Maine to meet the CO & XO and crew of a new ship that was under construction. When we were coming in for the landing I was amazed at all of the lakes and bodies of water. All I could think of was being able to dive in the beautiful water. When I found out the schedule for the ship I called Washington DC and submitted my papers for retirement. In the military, if you turn down a position that you were hand-picked for the next offer will not be a good one. I would say what it's called but I'm sure I would be banned.

I just point the hairdryer at the side of the battery, but below the opening with the insulator. (I have to use "high" setting on my cheap-o dryer) It's warm enough that it shrinks almost immediately and catches the insulator. Nothin' special.....

I put my finger over the "button" on top of the battery then use the hairdryer to curl those edges. After one side is done, I spin the battery around and do the other side. Next is the bottom of the battery, then I run the hairdryer up and down the sides of the battery. All of the batteries that the Athena squonker messed up have been rewrapped now.

Since the Darwin Award comment that was made here and my car accident, I don't seem to relate to a lot of folks in this thread so I honestly don't have much to say. As I begin the process of finding another vehicle, I probably won't be here much in the future either.

I shrug those kinds of things off. The only bad case for a nicked wrapper at the negative end is if you insert it negative side up in a metal tube. Good to rewrap when you notice it, but not that big a deal.

(The battery negative contact and the metal sidewall of the battery are all one big negative terminal.)

yay you!! I finally have my hair dryer also. fixin to buy new batts and put these out to pasture, but will practice a wrap or two before I do.

I had always figured that might be the trickiest part of it, but is there a reason anyone knows of that a tiny dot of glue wouldn't be a good idea? Would it negate any of the insulative properties? Hmmmmmm for some reason the puter thinks insulative isn't a word.........silly puter

Today has been a totally relaxing day. I haven't been sleeping very well lately. After 4 or 5 hours of sleep last night I got up and made a cup of coffee and settled down at my desk and computer. When the NASCAR race came on I watched about the first hour of it and the next thing I knew was the tv prattering on about some kind of gadget that will make life better for me. I looked around and could not find the mouse for my laptop. I finally found it under my desk (?). I looked at the clock and realized I had zoned out for about 3 hours sitting at my desk.
Today was also my combination birthday/vapeversary. Three years ago I had set my stop date for smoking on my 60th birthday. The next day February 26th was the day I found and joined ECF. It is hard to conceive it has been 3 years since I stopped cigs and started vaping exclusively. I'm not going to say it has been an easy 3 years but all of you have made it much more tolerable and possible. Thank you, everyone, for your patience and assistance.
