Funny fire story: Early 60's. My younger brother's crib was by the wall. He was being potty trained and decided to give it a go - right against the wall, some dripped and some scored right into an outlet. Fire started, all got out of the house safely. My dad was playing golf with the fire chief when the call came in! Oops, that's my address!

Needless to say, after the clean up, his crib was moved.
We all learned to be careful with outlets.

Definitely tell her to be careful with that.We lived in a trailer years ago,and while living there,i seen 2 trailers completely burn to the ground in about 5 minutes, when they go up,they go down very fast.

Yeah, I asked if we had a fire extinguisher - she said, yes, right in front of her

Hi all!

Taking a week off exercise since I bunged up one of my knees, so tonight I finished reworking the innards of the Squeezer. I replaced the positive contact strip with a piece of 22AWG copper, did an s-curve at the top where it meets the contact nut. It's now both a short throw and very light throw (not much pressure needed).

The 22awg hard copper is nice to work with, and subjectively I know it's very low loss, very little voltage dropped to the rda.

Total set of tweaks:
-replaced the 510 with a modmaker (very nice quality, and I had hosed the original - user error)
-new negative contact (part of putting the modmaker in)
-New positive contact (low loss and a nice light throw).
-widened out the squonk bottle cutout, towards the battery

I love how this mech is working (but still plan to pre-order a pulse 80 w squonker, to have one regulated 20700 set; good price at a couple of overseas shops).

Wow! I had a really nice weekend. I got a call yesterday from one of my granddaughters asking if she could come visit. She was back in town (NE Oklahoma near Miami) and her mom was out of town. She didn't want to stay in the house by herself. She is 19 and her job is making water tanks at well sites so she travels all over the lower 48. We had a really great visit, it was fun watching her play a game on my PS4. She also introduced me to a new show, PD Live. A show that follows 6 different police departments live covering a wide range of calls. She just left to go back to her mom's then she will leave tomorrow for a job in Odessa, TX. Like I said, really nice visit and weekend.
Sounds like you have a pretty amazing granddaughter! I'm glad you got a chance to have such a wonderful visit!
Today has been a pretty good day. First off, a very good smelling package in my mailbox. @markfm Thanks Mark!! You are the BOMB!! Second, I got a new ride to replace the totaled one. Here it is..Its a 2009 Chevrolet Aveo.

After a few days off it left the PA stop on the 2nd, hasn't arrived here yet. That's only 160 road miles, hasn't been completed in 4 days - they must be fighting Dire Wolves and White Walkers on the trek north

that is so weird when things like that happen. Hope they get to you soon.
Wish I had your mod tinkering skills and bravery

sprayed Simple Green on a vent in there.
Yipes........hope she has no more issues. If it was an air vent glad it wasn't on. I had a friend many years ago who worked nights. Came home, tried to sleep, but a cricket in the air vent was keeping her awake. She didn't have bug spray (which doesn't really work on crickets anyhow), so she grabbed the first can she saw in the bathroom........super duper sticky hairspray. Just as she went to spray..........the air kicked on, and it blew it back in her face. It glued her eyes shut, so she just laid down and went to sleep and cleaned it when she woke up.

The car hunt for my wife is finally over haha. She ended up getting an 05 Aveo at a great price, because it needed tires. The guy said it would cost around $400 for tires,so he was willing to drop the price a good bit,so we bought it,and went to Walmart and got 4 tires for $250 installed haha.I'm glad it's all over now,i was getting tired of dealing with a bunch of crooked people. The guy we got this from is a mechanic,so it's been well maintained which was a good selling point,he took the time to show me receipts to show what he has replaced.
yay!! glad she has a newer car, and y'all got a great deal. Nice to know it was well maintained. Hope y'all have many safe miles in it.

Me too! The idea of doing things like that excites me. I've even bought a couple things early on that I wanted to mod. But, I had thought my brother would help me learn how to do it. And, it turns out that he's very uninterested.

Maybe it's time I looked for some kind of classes to learn more about small electronics, soldering, etc.

I had planned to take a woodworking class somewhere and build my own mod stand. Never got around to it. Don't even remember where I'm supposed to go to do it. (Someone on the Old Folks thread suggested a place, a long time ago.)

I pulled the trigger on the pulse 80W today, though I'm pretty spoiled by my current mech setup.

Trying to retain equilibrium, the teal Pulse BF will go on the PIF pile (I'll hang onto the gray one).

An interesting sounding kawvee this week, Nicaragua Santa Lucila Caturra: Brown Sugar, Green Apple, Spices [emoji5]

Good Morning Frenz!

Thought I was going to sleep in a bit this a.m. but all the kidz were freaking on me around 6:30. Let BDD out and fed them. Did manage to get back to sleep for a little bit before they were at it again....

BDD is outside barking at squirrel farts, and the felines are keeping the peace. Decided to break out the vacuum and start sucking up some of the dog and cat hair that has accumulated over the past couple of weeks

We opted for a shop vac because my regular upright doesn't suck. This shop vac SUCKS!!!!!!!! I have about 1/2 the upstairs done. May drag it down to the basement to clear out nooks and crannies I can't otherwise get to.

The household finally got a vacuum that sucks for Christmas! It's wonderful!

We're still in the honeymoon phase. We actually love to vacuum right now.

I even sucked up the dog hair from the back of my car :w00t: Those little buggers get embedded in the pile of the fabric and are pert-near impossible to get out. I probably got about 90%, so I'm feeling accomplished

I need to hit the living room and still try to get some of the muck from the basement, but I've lost interest now.... Planning on what I'm going to make for supper (MUCH more fun in my book!)

It's a moderately compressible foam/rubber weatherstrip.

Cut a little piece and shove it under the negative battery contact, using a little pick or nail.

Since I did that, no problem with the mini contact, including multiple drops. The weatherstrip acts like a small shock absorber.

You can bend the contact up slightly to make it easier to install, then push it back down.

I can send a bit in an envelope. (It's scrap material )
It worked great! Thank you!

what did you get? The kids bought another cheapo one when the last one died, and it's prolly the worst vacuum I've ever used. I've always used kenmore powermate cannister vacs and loved em, but my sil lost the power head for mine somewherz. I have the rest of it but that does me no good without the head.

We had a hoover for ages, but I'm glad when it gave up the ghost and we switched to shark navigators at home and camp. No bags to change, the filters clean easily. (With multiple dogs we use two sets of filters, so we can swap whenever one is due for a cleaning.)

Often on sale at Lowe's.

Several years ago we were browsing in a Walmart clearance section and found a nice Oreck. Regularly like $199, it was on sale for $83. It has a bare floor cleaner setting, which turns out didn't work. Still doesn't, but it's the best vacuum I have ever owned. Easy to maintain (bagless and filters clean easily). The roller brushes can even be taken out for cleaning. With hairy dogs, it's great!

I love the Shark Rotator i think its called. My last one met a super unfortunate and disgusting demise when I accidentally vacuumed up human waste thinking it was mud, yeah you read that right. The joys of being an innkeeper. Need a new one, been lugging around a shopvac and its a back breaker.

Oh, there was a @Kaezziel sighting on Facebook today!!!!!!!! He's doing well. We'll see if we can't coerce him back to the Krewe......
