Potty training - I go out with puppies (every time they wake up, start getting frisky, after meals, etc.) and watch. If you watch closely, they will give you a sign they are gonna go. Maybe subtle sign - at that point, right before they actually "do", I give it a name. I fell into peedee and poop. If you do this consistently, as they grow older they will do their business pretty much on command (when they do have to go). Very handy!

Tasha (hasn't had an accident inside in many years, so if she is outside) does her poopy dance - she runs in circles and back and forth until she goes. Geordi, if inside, gets squirrely - goofy frisky running around -take him out! NOW! Bingo!

Observe every nuisance, they will tell you.

She's been doing very well. We've been taking her out shortly after meals and right when she wakes up from her various naps. We take a couple of treats and call her by name - I think she's doing quite well. BDD seems a bit depressed, so we're trying to shower her with affection and treats as well...

Well,i'm pretty well convinced i am cursed and will never take any more vacation time from work haha.Every time i take a few days off,and make any kind of plans, something always happens.4 years ago,i took a week off,and my father in law passed away, last year i took time off,and my wife had to have emergency surgery to get her appendix removed.Fast forward to this week,i took yesterday and today off,and guess what? The wife is in the hospital again,i just can't win haha. She went in yesterday morning and will be there until at least tommorow,as they have her on a 96 hour watch, but may hopefully let her out a bit early. She was getting really bad stomach pain, turns out she has a twisted bowel so they have her on a liquid diet hoping it will sort itself out so they don't have to do surgery,so hopefully it straightens out and she can come home without any more scars than she already has haha.
Not good! Hope it fixes itself!

The kidz had a good day today. Even Demon Spawn played with Jedi a bit today. BDD has been really good with her - only once did she "snap" when Jedi tried to take a toy from her.

We're getting Jedi out pretty regularly, and she's been doing pretty well. We've laid pee pads in her kennel, and if she goes inside, she tends to go to the crate. Only a couple small "leaks" not being in the crate. Not too bad for an 8-wk-old.... SO is way more stressed than I. Just figure accidents are going to happen, but if we stay on top of it, shouldn't be too bad.

@b.m. - hope things are going well for you, Brother :)

Thanks. So far so good. She hasn't had any more severe pain yet,so hopefully that's a good sign.Although she has been really taking it easy on what she eats, trying to keep it as lite as possible,so she's been eating a lot of jello, saltine crackers, etc. which is still like a fine dinner compared to when she was in the hospital haha. From 8 am Thursday morning until noon on Friday, they wouldn't give her anything at all to eat or drink, only a fluid drip from her iv,then from noon Friday until she left yesterday morning, all they would give her was chicken bullion, jello, and water,so she was starving when she got out,but scared to try and eat anything to heavy so she doesn't end up right back there from the pain getting too bad.

When ours were pups, I set the alarm and took them out every two hours all night. My wife took the day shift. High praise, scratches and a treat upon a satisfactory trip. The caught on quickly and just head for the door now. It was kind of miserable for me at night and in the day for the very lovely Mrs CMD but worth the time and trouble.

@CMD-Ky, I've taken a couple of days off work for a long weekend. SO has been handling the night shift, so to speak. But, SO has M.S. and doesn't move too quickly. Jedi at least goes to her potty pads while in the house. Lots of praise, skritches, and treats - I think she's doing o.k. We've been keeping her sequestered in the Living Room - it will be awhile before we let her start roaming the rest of the house.

We're headed to the vet in a bit - time for her 2nd round of shots and general check-up. She's playing with Sam (a.k.a. Demon Spawn) and Journey (a.k.a. Big Dumb Dog - BDD). She squeaks when she's had enough, and so far, no major trauma!

We're going to get Jedi signed up for training as soon as possible. She still doesn't quite respond to her name, but heck, she's only been with us since Thursday

I never used the pads. Jedi must be pretty smart to learn the pad so quick. I have known some people who did use pads and it worked well. I do like dogs, good fortune with yours.

What a little cutie pie! She'll learn good manners from BDD. Take them out together & BDD will help housebreak her. Our families dogs have all taught each other how use the doggy door. It's so funny to watch the new guys see one of the others use it for the first time, figure out how it works & what it's for!

So happy to hear she's doing well! She's smart to eat light for now, too.

@Kenna remember last year I posted about my 100 year-old rose and sent you some rose hips? Did they do anything?

What made me think about them is that the plant is full of buds and I noticed some color on one of them.
I haven't done anything with them yet. The apartments have been doing work on & around our patios & won't be done until late summer. I've lost all my remains patio plant except for my ammerylis. I don't want to rock losing these. I may have to move to get a patio back.

Thatcs funny. My employer charged 10.00 a pallet to customers & gave them credit for the ones they returned on the next truck. Way back when I had to bust people for syealing pallets from behind the stores.

Jup, everyone stole em a lot back in the day......... then they got real cheap, now some folks are charging a lot for em. My son even saw 10.00 for one, but dunno if it was new

OK, I am going to have to rethink this whole glue pads for the rat. A rat got stuck in one this morning, 1:00 am. It really made a racket waking both me and my daughter. I used a pickup stick to capture the rat and the glue pad as I was going outside. Syndee was in front of me opening doors and as we got outside the rat slipped its bonds and ran away. My question for those of you that have used the glue pads, how do you get the rat out of the house and kill the critter? I'm thinking of an orange bucket with a lid from Home Depot.
my sil used the pads once, but the screamin rat, plus having to dispose, after that it was just tomkatt and deal with the smell

Sanity check

Frankie got like that when we got Ozzy, but he's a stubborn terrier that can't get it through his thick head that HE is the one that don't wanna share space with Ozzy. Ozzy is such a lover that he does get more loving than Frankie who gets stand offish, but we do make sure Frankie gets plenty of love too.

hope they don't think she's a squeaky toy :?: Sounds like she and y'all are doing great with potty training so far. One thing..............Journey.......Jedi can sound an awful lot alike, so might take her a bit.

I checked how my withholding allowance adjustment last week worked. I claimed fewer allowances than the IRS tool recommended, and withholding still swung in the wrong direction. I've backed it down to 1 allowance + $5/week extra withheld. That should reach my target weekly withholding.

My best guesstimate is that our fed taxes will drop about 4% compared to last year. That's not noticeable in the big picture, and I'm having to work to make sure we don't owe taxes next year (since the IRS withholding calculator doesn't give the right answer for us).

On the home front, we had a beautiful Monday and Tuesday, so I took a good chunk of Tuesday off to work on an arbor for DW -- she grows melons that run up and over the arbor. I fabbed the 2 raised beds, and the three main arbor segments, need to mount the arbor pieces this coming weekend.
