I have been testing my coil on my itaste reading comes up solid 1 ohm. when i screw chimney all the way down it shorts it out and reads 0. if i loosen the chimney and dont fully tighten the top piece it vapes just fine and reads 1 ohm. Rebuilt the coil to make sure that was not the problem and nothing changed. I dont not have very much cotton through the coil and my coil is not touching the metal. I have the cotton sitting flush next to the fluid channels. Any good advice would be much appreciated I searched the forums and did not find much info on this particular problem. The tank is an hcigar kayfun 3.1

I have taken it apart and put it back together multiple times to see when it would go to 0. What do i need to do to thoroughly clean it?

Did you ever unscrew the bottom pin on the 510 and took that apart?..Making sure everything is nice tight for screw for the center post?

the coil did not seem to be touching the chimney but that is my suspicion. its 8 wraps of 28 gauge on a 1/16 drill bit so it is not a very large coil
The easiest way to trouble shoot and eliminate if coil is touching is make a smaller coil and see if that solve your problem.
If not than you can look into the other possible issues mentioned above.

Cheers

Also tried adjusting the contact pin on the bottom and it changed nothing.

Was about to say that; I was getting a similar problem (not with a kayfun) and eventually when I went back again to that center pin again on the mod side and realyy worked it up, the problem resolved.

It might be the center post is moving, when you're screwing the chimney....that happen to me with my Russian 91%

Did you even take it apart, and do through cleaning?....

Too true. I tend to just leave the center pin alone on the Kayfuns. The post will move and touch the other contacts. Luckily in my experience I had just gotten a really bad burnt vape than ruining my MOD or worse.

One of my 4 Kayfuns had a TON of leftover metal shaving stuck inside the air holes. I took a stickpin and reamed it around thoroughly under water as well as tapping it onto a paper towel upon a counter to get rid of as much metal shaving as possible. You would not believe how much metal shavings came out!

Good luck buddy!

PS: That one Kayfun with shavings was RCKayfun Lite 3.1. The other 3 (that were fine) were via EHPro.

Just a question... What MOD are you using?

EDIT: Wow I type slow!!!

IMO if it's always not shorting without the chimney on and always shorts when the chimney is on tight, the chimney it touching the coil or a wire as Katya said.

If you can, take a couple of pictures of the setup and post them. The coil and wick from the top and side before the chimney goes on is what I'm thinking.

This has happened to me a few times when I rebuild my protank coils. Every time, even though the leg wires look OK, I trim them a little shorter, and it works fine. Seems like on these, the silicone insulator must squish down enough that it shorts out. Have to admit that I am not familiar with your tank, so not sure if this helps at all.

HD.
