The problem I had on my first build was that the wick got caught in the threads of the chimney when I screwed it down and it pulled the coil onto the deck and caused a short. Combine that with not waiting for the alcohol that I cleaned it with to dry and messed up wicking and POOF!! a small explosion in my mouth with a burned cotton taste for an hour and a burned in half wick! I put everything down rewatched a couple of videos to see what I did wrong (it had been a month or more since I had watched them but due to financial issues it took longer than anticipated to order) and now it's vaping like a camp!

Just noticed you are in Columbus, OH. I had exactly this problem and I bet I can tell you who you bought this Kayfun from if you got it at B&M. The insulator on the positive block doesn't have the alignment ring on the bottom that most have. It doesn't center the positive pin in the hole in the deck and allows the positive block to get too close to the chimney. Make sure the block is straight and move it toward the negative post. I used a business card to space it. That should fix the problem. I was really disappointed in the tank and won't buy another from them.

The coil is not touching but I will rebuild it for more clearance after I fix the issue. The positive block is sitting too far back when fully tightened (even when turned perfectly straight). So I have to find a way to push it towards the middle when it is tight. I tried for a few hours last night with no luck in fixing the connection but at least I have checked every other area and narrowed down the issue to this point of contact. If I can't find a way to keep it forward I'm going to have to sand a little bit of the metal of the back to get rid of the contact it is making with the chimney. Thanks for all your input I have learned a lot and I'm sure it will help me in my future builds. If I get it fixed I will update on what I had to do.

Finally got it working properly had to take a dremel to the side on the positive connector bc it was making contact with the chimney. 6 hours of tinkering and my brand new kayfun finally works lol thanks for all the help guys!

Good for you! Glad it worked out for you :thumb:
