So I'm not really having fun with my kayfun 4 clone
i only do single coil build
I've tried both 26 g & 28 g kanthal
lI've tried wrapping around 5/64, & other drill bits going little bigger each time
tasted so muted at .6, .8 so went to 1.2 was ok, now 1.5 still not cutting it
lI really think it's my juice its a picky juice meaning it only tastes good at certain temp? I don't know
also losing juice out of holes like crazy
any suggestions best build for flavor would be great
i am new to building myself - usually take to local vape store & they do 4 me - just wanting to do myself
thanks for listening

I had an issue with my Tobeco leaking through the 510 but after I broke it down completely to give a thorough wash and then put it back together - no leaking at all. No idea why. Didn't replace any o-rings or anything. I probably will eventually just to be on the safe side.

As far as build, I'm running a 28ga 3mm ID spaced 1.4 ohm coil wicked with KGD. I like it a good bit. It doesn't match my Lemo or Aqua V2 but it's a very nice vape at around 16ish W.

I have the HCigar Kayfun 4 that I run at 1.5 ohms, 6 wraps of 28 Guage kanthal I believe. Anywho, it had a very metallic taste in the beginning, couple of hot passes through a sonic cleaner and we're back in business. It sounds like a wick issue with the leaking you mentioned. I've always done the "S" wick with my kayfuns. Do you have a photo of your current build?

I rock almost an identical 28gauge 3mm (spaced coil) at 1.2-1.6ohm with KGD. It's absolutely stellar.

Hard to compare a Lemo and AquaV2 to a Kayfun V4.... completely different beasts with different goals/designs. The V4 is, in my opinion, a more "refined" vape that balances airflow/draw-resistance perfectly with vape density and temperature... or should i say allows you much better hardware to build a perfect setup... as so much of vape performance on all these RTAs is proper building.

That said... if you're a fan of the Lemo or Aqua V2... pick up a SilverPlay from VaporDNA... miles ahead of both of those RTAs in just about every respect (save for build on an authentic AquaV2).

I know, I just mentioned the Lemo and Aqua V2 in passing because they are the most enjoyable RTAs I have found so far. Not that I've tried tons of RTAs, I guess I just got lucky and found two that I really like early in my search. Well, three really because I do enjoy the Kayfun V4 and plan on picking up one or two more.

I did try the Silverplay and didn't enjoy it. The flavor was nice but was too warm for my liking.

Right behind you...
Yes on juice control, but since this post I took all apart (again)
Spread out the spring after unscrewing 510 tightened everything
Up & it's been much better with leaking issue still not where I want it to be
In terms of flavor but gonna keep trying
Thanks for reply light seeker

What are you using for wicking material, and how are you wicking?

I know this may sound out of the realm of what seems to be the norm on these forums
But after vaping for 3 + years and using kayfuns for about a year now and doing a lot of research it seems to me that the build on your coil really depends on the mod you are using check out steam engine it's a very useful tool and will give you a range that is good for your mod
I am one of the few that uses the top range of my mod I have a vaporshark rdna 30 with 2.2 ohm coil running 18 watts on a kayfun v4 and it's great
I have use every build from .5 all the way up and find the 2.2 coil works best and my battery lasts a lot longer
Just my thoughts hope this was helpful
And check out steam engine

I tried this along with another piece of against-the-norm advice I read - positioning the coil up high instead of one or two mm from the air flow hole - and the improvement in flavor is amazing.

I'm using organic cotton, also tried bacon strips they sell at my local store but I still prefer cotton,
I'm still having my leaking issues off & on - who knows I've tried different techniques for wicking
I hate to keep re-doing cotton just wastes so much juice
Thanks for suggestions

Make sure to check your orings, especially the top ones. Close off the airflow and suck on it and see if you are getting any leaks.
