Well, I've had my first FastTech Kayfun Lite Clone since Wednesday and have had some time to play with it. First things first, I'm impressed with the build quality. This is apparently one of the "new" Tobeco clones with the flat top, rather than the beveled top. I don't know how it compares to the first run of Tobeco Kayfun clones, let alone the original.

I had to use pads and pliers to get the chimney separated, which is annoying, especially since I've had to do so twice now. I cleaned everything in dish soap and had no machine oil taste at all, so that wasn't a problem. the top of the chimney cut into the o-ring, so first order of business was sanding the edges. (As a side note, the edge of the airflow adjustment channel is razor sharp...found out the hard way :().

All in all, it's a great bit of kit. All stainless, except for the grub screw. Vapes like a champ. I will be ordering more of these.

Something that might be a problem, though. I couldn't get it to screw down all the way on the ProVari. It fit everything else fine, so I screwed and unscrewed it into my Hippo about twenty times and then carefully worked it onto the ProVari, backing it off a little every time it started binding. Luckily, I didn't damage the ProVari's threads, and it now screws and unscrews smoothly.

I'll be buying more of these. :D

The ehpro ones have the flat top. I wonder if tobeco changed or if the unit you got came from the ehpro factory. With china, it's hard to say lol.

But congrats on getting a good unit. That's the main thing.

Everybody that ordered one from FT after about halfway through December got the ones with the flat tops. They come in a Tobeco box, but according to those who have both, the boxes are slightly different. As long as it works and doesn't have stripped out threads, I don't care if they come from a one man shop called "Sum Yung Gui's Mods" or Tobeco. :)

Will see what it is when it shows up but he sells them for 37.99 with free shipping. Will let yall know what it is like when it gets here. Should be some time this week since he said he would ship it out today.

my FT tobeco arrived today. the maching on the base isn't the best but works as intended. no whistling. the finish on the base and top cap is different than the tank, kind of a two tone effect, looks neat to be honest. sofar it's working just as good as the real deal.

my vapor break clone made it to Canadian shores today, now it just has to make it to this side of the country :) it'll be interesting to see how they compare...

Great. I think I've finally decided to keep mine. It has a small burr in the air way but that will be easy enough to drill out. The machining on the chimney leaves a lot to be desired but I think it should hold up ok.

I just wish usps tracking on my vb one would say something besides 'not found' lol.

^Does your tobeco clone have a raised positive block?
yes, the positive block is slightly higher.

I received two Tobeco clones from FT on Jan 10. They both have the raised Positive post block. They did have some burrs, plastic scraps and metal filings in the center tube and airways. Easy enough to clean up. I did notice as I filed off rough areas around the air holes in the center tubes that one was SS and the other was plated brass. They were otherwise identical. Both vape as well as my KFL+ and Russian 91.

So, has anyone confirmed any rusty screws with the Tobeco version? I see it on the FT page, but seems no one knows if the FT version is from Tobeco. So, im curious if anyone has noticed or tested for the rusty screws in the Tobeco itself...

With as much as I have seen that you have spent, why not buy a genuine R91 or a Kayfun? While I am working on my Russian to get it perfect, it seems to be worth it. I am itching for my Kayfun to arrive.

In all honesty, the Russian is the best $100 I have spent... no question. No question.
