I just read the thread all the way through, and I only saw one person ask about the screws. Is it true that the FT v3.1 in stainless steel has terminal screws and a filler bearing that will rust?

I have raised this issue at the FT forum and especially for the Refill ball-bearing valve I never got an answer. The issue became apparent through a group order of the Hcigar version in Australia. All the screws are replaceable by the user but the ball-bearing valve (+spring) is not. Hcigar replaced the bases for all (in the group order) because of the valve.
I am expecting an Hcigar one from the US and according to the vendor who communicated with Hcigar everything is 100% SS now (incl the valve + spring).

As far as the fasttech version is concerned I wouldn't bet my money on it unless I got a definite answer from someone there or through a test.

It is easy to test by soaking the atomizer in water for a few hours or overnight. If the valve parts and the screws are not SS the difference in metals will cause galvanic corrosion through the water which acts as an electrolyte and rust will appear. Our liquids are worse electrolytes than water and slower to act bu it will happen eventually.

Right now I would only get the lite from there which I just received recently and it is a Tobeco clone. The threads are not the best to be honest and compared to every original atomizer I have they are really rough. E.g. compared to my DID & Gemini from MMV which are extremely smooth and high quality.

I have ordered 2 original replacement kits for the lite clone from fastech (incl the o-rings) just to be sure. However, as I said above you can't replace the ball-bearing valve with the spring on the 3.1 so if you get it you gamble.

All in all, if the Kayfun suits my taste I will probably get an original unless the Aqua proves to better (will also get a clone to try).

One of the easiest setups I've used is 30 gauge Kanthal :Kanthal A1 Wire 30 Gauge 25 ft 0 1oz Resistance Resistor AWG A 1 | eBay I have used this seller before (I purchased 32 awg, but am planning on getting 30 awg for the Kayfun).

9/10 wraps on a 16 gauge blunt syringe need compressed to a micro coil

These can be purchased from many e-cig supply shops or the local pharmacy. you can also use a toothpick.

Cotton wick is the easiest of all to find. Look for "Peaches and Cream" brand organic cotton yarn at Wal*Mart. It will be almost white (the color is Ecru) just boil a 10-20 ft. strand for 15 minutes, change the water and boil it again for 15 minutes. You can also use organic cotton balls (and boil likewise).

Here's a good rebuilding video (He covers both vertical and horizontal builds):

Edit: Whoops. Didn't notice the U.K., sorry, I can't help except for the video...:(

Many thanks for the reply I have ordered some more Kanthal and i don't think getting some good cotton should be too hard I just need some time to meditate making coils! ;)

I get my supplies from here and I think (I don't coil here on the water) i now have AWG 33, 32, 31, 30 and 28 A1 Kanthal wire so I should be good to go when I get the time!

Do you think that the Kayfun Lite is the better way to go then?

I just ordered a Kayfun 3.1 Clone by EHPRO from Eciggity. It is supposed to be here Monday. From all I have been reading I am excited for it to get here! I have been using tank cartos for a while and am getting tired of dealing with them.....Bought some Vision 2.0's and am not happy with them either. I hope this rebuildable will be my ultimate vape! From my reading, I think it will.

I may buy another clone to have as a backup as well. I still need to get some wire (looking at 100 ft spool).

Been a while since I looked at new stuff and I am AMAZED!!!!!

:D

bad link ........

ecf probably has a block to that site also !! try posting the actual pic

Ay if you copy the goo.gl link that works, direct linking is blocked by ECF it's all over the FocaleCig threads will try posting pics at some point, I've been impressed by the ToBreCo KFL it's all SS with AFC sure its a bit rough in places but @ £16 ($US26) delivered which is the same price as a ProCrank 3 over here in blighty bargain vape money. KFL Clones go for £35-40 over here which is bizarre considering a SvoeMesto KFL+ is £66ish retail. I have only just realised you have to remove the SM KFL+ to adjust the airflow where as the ToBreCo clones AFC is like the SM KF 3.1.

** Edit added pics ;)

Well I used it all day today and it's been great! No leaking and all parts flush mount albeit a bit rough in places. I think that they just need some "polishing" and they should be a lot smoother but I don't know if sanding them a bit could actually damage it. I guess they will smooth out through use anyway. I don't expect them to ever be like my original DID, GINIs (4X) etc but they will be good and for the price this clone is a steal. I can't wait for the original replacement kits to arrive next week to complete it.

So would i pick this over the 3.1 from fasttech? Yes and I did because I have no answer for the material used on the ball bearing refill valve which cannot be changed by the user.

That makes a lot of sense, thank you.

I have a real KFL+ and the tobeco clone. The tobeco clone is a leaky POS out of the fill screw, its almost unusable.

Anyone that has the tobeco clone have a solution for the leaky screw?

Not sure if you got this fixed yet, I have a real KFL that had the same issue. I drilled the hole a couple of mm deeper and placed an o-ring on the screw...problem solved!

Stuff happens when least expected. Seems the positive post (block) appeared to float with too much ease; over torqued the bugger. The center post will eventually be made available for ordering.

SVM sells replacement center posts and positive terminal blocks -- these are threaded, so the blocks won't shear off.

I don't know about other clones, but the HC is apparently 1:1, so these genuine replacement parts should work. The trouble is, SVM does not ship to North America, and I haven't found them available anywhere else.

FWIW, I also saw a complete replacement deck (was probably on the SVM site). Snap one of these babies onto your HC clone, and you'll have something like a 60% genuine 3.1 :D
