OK, 3 weeks ago, I got an EHPRO kayfun 3.1 clone. At the time the best thing I had to put it on was a Spinner II (pointless, I know).

didn't use it much because of that and the other, main, reason.

3 different people and myself twice, built this thing. No matter what I put in it, the dang thing gives a burnt cotton taste every time. 0.7 build, 1.4 build, 1.8 build, 2.0 build and a 2.5 build. I have no problem rebuilding my Plume Veil, and wicking, re wicking that, but my kayfun is hosting the ghost of some Cotton warehouse fire.

I have a $10 ECTO T9 BDC (like a ViviNova) tank that has of more use than this.

So in other words, you need to learn how to properly wick it?

I recommend watching pbusardo's youtube video on the Kayfun Lite/Russian 91%.

This wicking method is simple and it works.

Except I didn't wick it 3 of the 5 times, twice it was done by people who worked in B&Ms who had been rebuilding for a long time, plus as I said I can wick fine in my Plume Veil doing dual coils, why would I be so far off on a single coil Kayfun?

I feel your pain , it took me probably at least 10 coil / wick builds to get it right consistently and even now I still get the one off. Very frustrating because you spend all that time toying with it, then filling only to get burnt hits after the first 10 hits. And then have to dump and redo. I've switched to a dripper full time now so wicking isn't much of an issue .
I recommend searching for one of the horizontal wick build and following those, I could never get the diagnol builds right

Only option is to send to me, it needs an exorcism, I'll vape that ghost right out of it.

I'm an avid Kayfun user and never have that problem, what type coils are you building, and what are you using as wicking material.
Are you using thick/heavy VG juice?
Step me through your builds.
BTW I fount at least for me the happy spot for kayfuns are 1.5 to 1.8 ohms
While I appreciate the offer to help, each build was different, by different people, and the all stunk. I'm using organic cotton, maybe I'll try something else as a wick.

Not really rayon(cellucotton) or Japanese cotton. Is what is "in" these days
Walgreen's organic cotton has never let me down.

I'm looking to pick up an Ehpro Kayfun Lite+ soon, and I figured I'd at least start with Ekowool for the first few builds to make my life easier. That way if I do get a dry hit when still learning the optimal config, I don't need to rip it all apart and rewick immediately.

Nice try, ... But if I can't find the right coil incantation, I might exorcise it my self with a 50 lb sledge, before anything else.

[Moderated] drastic
Your problem is not your kayfun or your wick material as much as your wicking methods
I've been vaping on my current wick for a week now with 4 tank refills.
and right now I'm vaping it at 18 watts

Try using less cotton (organic) so you can easily pull it thru the coil. With the cotton, pull it up and instal the chimney. Make sure the cotton is long enough so it will come above the chimney. Now cut the cotton flush with the chimney and lightly push down on either side of the coil (outside of coil, not on it) Drip a few drops of juice on the cotton and let it sit for a minute. Vape away

Also, are you dry burning the coil before you wick? Hope this helps because the Kayfun is about perfect imo.

The trick to the perfect kayfun build is patience... slow down and take your time.
loose cloudy cotton, should be very little resistance when pulled through the coil.
I don't pull mine up through the chimney like some do, I pre-juice and arrange my wick on the deck before placing the bottom chimney then double check the placement of the wick on the deck with a piece of kanthal test fire it a few time add a couple drops of juice before placing the top chimney, reassemble, fill and savor the flavor of the vape.

Yeah about the lowest I go is 1.3 on the Kayfun. It really can't keep up feeding wise. So a tip is to sq.... it hahaha I hope I spelled that right. Anyway put your finger over the air intake hole and draw heavy vacuum and slide your thumb off the air hole. You will see bubbles rise up in the tank. Now there is plenty off liquid in wick area vape away. If it gets dry again repeat.
