Except I didn't wick it 3 of the 5 times, twice it was done by people who worked in B&Ms who had been rebuilding for a long time, plus as I said I can wick fine in my Plume Veil doing dual coils, why would I be so far off on a single coil kayfun?

Wicking a dripper is much simpler by nature. You are dripping liquid directly onto it, after all. Couple of things to watch for. Make sure whatever method you use, that your wick is not blocking the fluid channels in the base. Also, take a look at the channels and make sure they were fully machined, and the horizontal actually connects to the vertical. If not, it's time to get the Dremel out.

Yeah about the lowest I go is 1.3 on the Kayfun. It really can't keep up feeding wise. So a tip is to sq.... it hahaha I hope I spelled that right. Anyway put your finger over the air intake hole and draw heavy vacuum and slide your thumb off the air hole. You will see bubbles rise up in the tank. Now there is plenty off liquid in wick area vape away. If it gets dry again repeat.

Live Long and Vape!

I put the dang thing on the ohm reader, and when I saw the reading, I realized I was in error. I had a 4th person rebuild it, because it was sitting at 1.0

Anyway, I still tried what you suggested, ...

Lo and behold, it worked, well mostly, there is still the slightest bit of that taste, but it is barely even noticeable.

Chances are I can rewick this tomorrow, and try again with a higher ohm build, but right now this will do to take to the bar on my IPV instead of my Plume Veil.

loose cloudy cotton, should be very little resistance when pulled through the coil.
I don't pull mine up through the chimney like some do, I pre-juice and arrange my wick on the deck before placing the bottom chimney then double check the placement of the wick on the deck with a piece of kanthal test fire it a few time add a couple drops of juice before placing the top chimney, reassemble, fill and savor the flavor of the vape.
This is exactly what I do. I also have the exact kayfun you do. Ehpro kayfun 3.1, 28g kanthal, 1-1.5 ohm microcoil built around 5/64 drill bit and wicked as mentioned above with Walgreens organic cotton. Only ever get burnt hits if I run it too low on juice. Build the coil and setup the wick yourself after watching a few videos. with practice you will know exactly what you have and will know exactly how it will work before you take the first 'new build' vape. Don't give up and good luck. The ehpro kayfun 3.1 is a great clone.

Did not see, so I'll ask.

Did you completely strip this thing down and clean each and every INDIVIDUAL PART?
Did You fully examine EVERY PART? Every slot, channel, passage?
Did you screw the main chimney on and verify the channels had plenty of room for juice to flow to the wick chamber?

Crap Kayfuns are Rare, but it does happen and I have seen some EXTREME examples of messed up machining.
If everything is in good shape, Spotless clean and it has good air flow.................
Give my build a try.
<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<

That build has not failed me yet.

I had problems with svoemesto kayfun when I first got it. It was a PEBKAC error.
Problem exists between the kayfun and the chair.
I like the crxess method. I can do my wicking with or without the donut/nest now, but his method really helped me. I think it gives me better wick longevity and vapor production.
Also, I started with a 5/64 bit. It was a little bit of a hassle to wick. I prefer using my mini screwdriver for my coils. It is a bigger diameter. Made my wicking easier.
When I first started building my kayfun I would get burnt tastes after a few hits and have to rewick. Super annoying. Stubbornness pays off. Stick with it. Now my wicks last at least a day and a half of chain vaping minimum.
Last thought. I think I get better wicking and draw without my AFC screw. It sits in my vape tool box. I am much happier without it.

Had the same problem also, switched to cellucotton...problem solved.

Same here; I could get a decent vape maybe 2 out of every 5 tries, using cotton, and in my nano, never could get ANYTHING but burnt taste, using cotton. Switched to rayon/cellucotton... problem gone.

The trick to the perfect kayfun build is patience... slow down and take your time.

I agree, I never got good results with that "bunny ear" method; I trim and shape and pre-juice my rayon wick and get it just-so on the ledges, before putting the bottom part of the chimney on, and then checking to make sure that placing the chimney didn't disturb the placement. It works great!

I agree about the 5/64; great for a T3S or a Mini Protank , but why bother with something that little in a kayfun? I use a 7/64; it's easier to get a wick into it, and it's so fat, it's hard to choke.

in my experience, USE LESS COTTON. I know people say that there should be some resistance when you move the wick in the coil, but i build it so that there is almost no resistance. Just the slightest bit of resistance. Then I cut the cotton so that it BARELY touches the base, that way the cotton cannot get in the way of the 2 holes that draw in liquid. Try this and respond. I have tried several different coils, with different ohms like you, and they all were bad. But once I got it right it was obvious what was wrong....too much cotton. Also when I switched to the japanese cotton it was another huge improvement. Now the only time I get dry hits is when I put in too much cotton and then i'm too lazy to re-do it.

A lot of people had this same issue including myself and it is due to the juice channels being to shallow.. I had the same issue so I opened the channels a little and problem solved. Just get a Dremel or file. All that complained of this all had the EH pro version as well.

Dang... makes me glad I got the Tobeco instead! :p

I have a couple of the artemis black edition v1 clones (tobeco special order) that had this problem with the juice channels, one would not wick at all and burned the cotton after the juice I put on the wicks during the build was gone. I ended up fixing them with my dremel. Before I got the dremel out I had them working by leaving the chimney loose by about 4 turns. This will make the juice much easier to wick as it doesn't rely on the juice channels meeting, also it has a shorter channel to feed through, and will help to identify this problem. Just remember to put a little juice on the oring in the top cap so it doesn't grab the chimney and tighten it back down as you put the top back on.

I'm glad I spent the extra money and bought the Svoemesto KayFun Lite 2. Perfectly machined with larger juice channels. I love it when every piece fits just right and every screw actually comes off and on without stripping issues.

A lot of issues people have with the Kayfun come down to it being a single coil single air unit. It just can't keep up with a sub ohm build for those chasing a super dense vape. Look into the Big Buddha it is a dual coil dual adjustable airflow Kayfun like that holds atleast 10ml. If one Kayfun makes a good vape two in one should make a GREAT vape. I can't wait for it to get here.

I've not used the EHPRO clone. The kayfun "black" edition clone that I have is by far the best KFL clone that I've used. I have an authentic KFL and this one is hands down the closest in look/feel/operation quite honestly...at least in my experience. Good luck, hope you work it out...
