TLDR: Will a Kayfun lite work well throughout the day without flooding if its not used very much?

Hello! This is my first thread so I figured I'd introduce myself too. I quit smoking 5 years ago, yet started vaping only 2 months ago. Kind of odd I guess... but I'm hooked! I have an extremely addictive personality and vaping is my obsession at the moment. Its not so much the actual vaping that got me, but all the hardware and juice and tinkering waiting to be done. My wife and I started at the same time with little eGo setups. Mine didnt last very long and I needed to replace it. It was all downhill from there! I've since acquired an eVic, Sigelei 30 and a Manhattan. I have some Kanger tanks, a Nautilus, Fogger and a Tugboat. I'm also about $400 in on DIY e liquid supplies. I LOVE Cuttwood Unicorn Milk and Sugar Bear, still looking to duplicate them because I won't even vape the juices I've made.

Anyways, the other night the wife and I were talking and she commented how well her little eGo was working. I said yeah well its gonna die pretty soon here though. But the guy said it would last a year? I said uhh no... Funny cuz the next night hers died  She could see my excitement at getting to replace her setup. She said just get me another one like I already had... HAH NO! I ordered her a black nemesis she'll use in 18350 along with a black Kayfun Lite. I also ordered the hybrid kit and magnets for it. Its gonna be a pimp looking little mod for her. The concern, since I've not owned a Kayfun is that it will flood on her. She is a nurse so in a 12 hour period she might get 3 chances to hit it. That, along with it bobbing around her pocket all night have me wondering if it might have an issue.

The build videos I've seen on the Kayfun show keeping the wick away from the juice channels. I'm thinking in her case I might want to tuck that wick into the channel a bit instead since she's not a big hitter cloud chaser. Wicking won't be an issue because even when she does hit it its maybe 3 times. It will be in the 1.2-1.5 range so its not going to be very hot either. My nautilus would be a good choice for her, but she's liking the solid black look of what I've ordered. Any input from some experienced Kayfun folks would be great!

Thanks!

Welcome Supchaka! My KFL's never leak or flood whether I constantly vape or just carry around as a spare. I use a normal build, wick not in juice channels.
Beautiful man, thanks for the reply! Ideally I would use it for the first day to make sure its all good but I can already hear her saying something about it actually being for me instead of her :)

Welcome to ECF. I use nothing but Kayfuns, and have 5 that I rotate with. Sometimes one of them will be sitting on a stand for days at a time and I can just hook it up and go. I will say that I have heard of some leaking issues with the clones. A buddy of mine did not want to spring for an authentic and had nothing but leaking issues with his. I'm not sure what your price ranges are, but if a kayfun is the direction you are going I would definitely recommend finding a used authentic on the classifieds. You could find a used Russian or v1 kayfun for around 60 bucks.

First off.....GREAT avatar!!!!!!!!!!!

I have EHPRO Kayfuns and have had no problems. BTW....Russians are Kayfun clones. An Ehpro costs $30....hard to beat.

Raising the coil(s) higher over the airhole fixed most of the leaking for me. I have a $15 Fasttech clone and it still leaks a little here and there, but when I had just started building on it, I had the coil almost directly over the airhole and I'd get gurgling and leaking with every use. Now I make sure that there's at least 1/8th of an inch clearance when rebuilding and it performs much better.

If people are having leaking issues with the clones then I'd imagine that's down to their wicking. Had 3 different kayfun clones from fasttech, including the cheapest one. All 3 of them work flawlessly, and I'm not exactly a seasoned veteran!

As you said it will be better if you can test it for a few hours/a day to make sure it's Ok. Did an almost identical setup for a colleague yesterday as the black nemesis and kayfun came that I ordered him. Built it up and assembled it, vape great. Put it down for a while on its side and noticed it leaking out of the air hole. Removed the tank and top part of the chimney and added a small amount of cotton down each side of the coil where the juice channels are (without over packing) and it's worked completely fine through today without a drop or a dry hit. He loves it.

Well her nemesis clone showed up a little late from being sent to the wrong address. I don't know who made the clone but it was crap. I went into the b&m and got her a stingray clone, soooo much better, although I don't know who made that one either. I've wicked her ehpro kayfun a few times already getting it figured out. Flooded a few times, yes. Got it setup nice now, the tanks full and she's off and running! I told her that tank should last her a week with her usage.

All in all I'm not super impressed with the kayfun yet compared to my fogger. Granted I don't have the exp with it yet, but I don't like feeling like ok it's built, now let me check it every 10 minutes to see if it's dumping my juice out yet. It does hit really solid though once it is setup good so I'm sure it will grow on me. My next one will either be the fogger v5 or another kayfun I'm sure. Thanks for the comments guys

I got my first Kayfun 3.1 (FT clone) in July. One for me and one for my wife. They both have been flawless. We are now up to four each. None of my KFs have ever leaked and the only flooding has been the result of filling or topping off the tanks (4-5 drops of juice oozing from the air hole). Blow out the excess juice and good to go til the next fill.
I threatened but have not tried a KFL. I just can't imagine it being better that the KF3.1.

She's really happy with it. I wasn't sure she'd like copper and stainless since the original plan was solid black.
