OK, I have two Kayfun Lite clones, one is a Plus model, both are from ehpro. It seems with either, I get much more throat hit than I like, the vape can be pretty harsh. On my RDAs (Igo W or L) I am able to vary the coil distance from the deck, change resistance, and vary the cotton wick density to get the mild throat hit that I prefer.

So, for the experts out there - how do I decrease the throat hit on the Kayfun-style atomizer? I've varied my coils in many ways: different resistance, diameters (but generally go with 1/16" ID), micro coils that I've squeezed tightly and torched, loose coils with small spaces between wraps. I've tried tight cotton wicks, loose wicks...etc...and I still get waaaay too much throat hit (for me).

Is this just the nature of the atomizer, or is there another way to mitigate the throat hit? I can take huge lung hits off my drippers, but using the same juice with these Kayfun clones I find myself coughing and hacking, even with a minor mouth-to-lung hit.

Help?

All solid suggestions - thanks.

I ssume the gap you are referring to is the gap under the coil? Does raising the coil lower throat hit?

I agree that you should have a 1-2mm air gap under the coil. You may have to drop your Nic concentration, I know that I had to go from 18 to 12mg in my KFL and a lot of other people haver reported the same in the KFL thread.

Set up right, I would be surprised if switching to silica helps. I like to be corrected when I am wrong though. :)

Yes coil height does affect TH on the KFL. I think it's actually a very mellow vape for the most part, with my coils being about 1.5 MM off the deck. The higher the coil is, the more TH you will get. Like some have stated before Nicotine levels hugely affect the TH, try dropping your level for juices in the Kayfun, should help.
