I have several different Kayfuns including the kayfun Lite Plus V2 Authentic, Russian 91%, and 2 Kayfun Lite Black Edition V3 models.

My setup with all of them is 30ga kanthal microcoil's about 8-9 wraps using cotton wicks. I have followed many of the common instructional vidoes on how to create microcoil using cotton wicks and for the most part they are working great. I however one consistent issue across all devices. Basically these never leak except when I bring them into my car on a hot day. It seems that the combination of going from the cool air conditioned indoors to my 100 degree car is causing the leaking. Within 5 minutes of being in the hot car they will all do the same thing and that is spew juice out the air hole. It is not just a little and will continue to leak until most the tank empties if left alone in the hot car.

So I am going on a fishing trip next week where I expect to spend my days in a hot boat and I am concerned that my Kayfuns are going to be leaking like crazy in the hot sunny boat. Is this a common issue with Kayfuns and hot weather or is this a problem with my builds? Any guidance would be appreciated.

Man, I took a beach vacation in FL last year and NOTHING worked right. Every topper I had gurgled and leaked. I dunno how Floridians vape.
But yes, your juice gets thinner in warmer temps, and therefore overwicks. It happens to us all, on any topper I've ever tried.
You can try to give your RTAs a little more wick to pack in the coil chamber.
Out on the boat, all you can do is carry your spares in a little 6-pack cooler, or consider grabbing a top coil clearo for just such occasions. With a top coil, at least gravity will help keep your liquid in the tank until you tip it for a vape.
Hope someone else has magic advice for you and the rest of us.

Try keeping your kayfun upside down when not in use this will keep the juice away from the wicks and allow excess pressure to escape.

So I should actually have it drip tip down? I will give this a try.

So do commercial tanks such as the Kanger Aero line also have this issue in hot weather? I switched from protanks to Kayfuns about 6 months ago and have no intention on going back however just makes me curious if hot weather causes all bottom tanks or mainly RBA bottom tanks to leak.

I honestly don't think this is my build as they have never once leaked except in hot envionrments.

Here's my guess (and that's just what it is, an educated guess). I believe that when you fill your tank and seal it up indoors, the air inside the tank is cool. When taking the tank outside, that pocket of air heats and expands. With the bottom coil of the Kayfun, the juice channels are at the bottom of the device, so as the air bubble at the top expands, it pushes the liquid out the bottom. By inverting the tank, you leave the channels at the top, so as the air expands, the AIR will escape through the juice channels rather than pushing the juice out.

I just got my KFL+ a week ago so I haven't experienced this yet, but I'll be taking a vacation to FL in two weeks so now I'll keep this in mind...

Since the "tank" portion of the atty is "sealed" to normal atmospherical pressure, any change from cold to hot temperature differences causes the air in the tank to expand. As the air expands, it pushes the fluid out of the tank (leaks). If the tank ( atty) is positioned tip down, it allows the air to expand and escape the tank with little to no leaking ( since no fluid displacement is occurring).

This only happens to me with one of my kayfuns. It's the kayfun 4.1. I live in a very hot area of california, it gets 105 or above. I noticed my kayfun lite, and my kayfun lite plus DON'T do this!! Only the 4.1. I've tried and tried to figure out why and what the differences are between the kayfuns and the only thing I can think of is my lights are bottom filled while the 4.1 is front filled. It's so bad I no longer use the 4.1. But now I've came across your thread and your saying ALL your kayfuns are doing this. Which confuses me a bit because only my 4.1 does it. I'm almost wondering if it's something we are doing to cause it in our build. I understand the change in pressure from cool to hot is what most say cause this, but in my case why wouldn't that effect the kayfun lites the same way? This thread leaves me with a lot of unanswered questions now...it's really strange that ALL your kayfuns leak in hot weather and only my 4.1 leaks... it makes me now wonder if it's related to the MANUFACTUER or BRAND of the kayfuns. My 4.1 is made by vape royalty line from, EH pro. Are all your kayfuns made by the same manufacturer? My kayfun lites come from a different manufacturer. So I'm wondering if certain kayfuns like the ones made by eh pro are the ones that leak in the heat?? What do you think? Because None Of My Kayfun Lites OR Kayfun Lite plus, Leaks IN The Heat AND They Are A Different MANUFACTUER ! I'm just trying to figure this out. What do you think? Keeping in mind not all kayfuns are doing this..

Yep, heat does make your juice thinner, and yep, it goes out the mouthpiece as it expands. It will happen to most all the bottom coil tanks, and even in some of the top coil tanks as well. You have to remember that there is a vacuum in our tanks when we use them under most all of our ordinary uses, which for most are indoors. When you take them out into the heat . . wallah . . expansion in the tank, the only place left for that expansion to go is out the mouthpiece. I keep my stuff upside down and it does help to solve the problem most of the time, occasionally it does not.

I live at high altitude as well, it happens truly faster than when I am down at lower altitudes. As you climb in altitude you also have expansion taking place regardless of temperature, combine them both and it gets real interesting real quick. I can be in my truck at 3500 ft altitude, AC running full bore, internal cab temp is right at 70, just like being indoors, but as I climb in altitude heading home to my normal 7500 ft, vape starts coming out of the mouthpiece if I don't have it upside down. Barometric pressure will affect these things also. The other day I filled up a couple tanks, set them in my tanks stand, as the storm passed I noticed the fill levels changing in the tanks, barometric pressure rose, pressure in the tanks rose also . . pretty soon, juice in the mouthpiece. You can actually 'burp' them to stop this from happening.

I rarely have this issue with my KFL+'s. My kangers did it all the time though. 95 degree, hiking in the mountains, doesn't matter. I don't get leaks. Only time mine will leak is if I have fluid in one of the tanks and leave it sitting on the stand for a 2 days or longer. Even then, it's only a small amount of flooding, not really even leakage, and is quickly gone by drawing a couple times from the air hole with the device upside down.
