I ordered a kayfun Lite Plus hybrid. The base of this atomizer has 4 juice channels like the Aqua atomizer.

Using dual coils, I would like to see about 2.0 ohms.

The calculator here states that if I use 7 wraps of Kanthal A1 / 36 AWG on the coil, I should get about 2.0 ohms:.... vape calc

I guess they mean 7 wraps on each coil?

Do my numbers look right to you?

Thanks,

EDIT: I decided against 36 AWG wire because I have heard that it's really hard to work with. 32 AWG might be a little easier, but then I need to make a set of coils that are only 1.2 ohms in order to stay below the 10 watt max power I have available from my Kick (ver 1).

Here is the Kayfun head I will be working with:

Yes, you've calculated correctly... and yes, as much as I'd like to inquire as to why you want this particular specification - my self-restraint is working at full throttle, so I'll keep my lip buttoned. ;-)

For 2.0Ω total net resistance from parallel duals, you need two 4.0Ω coils... so to "proof" your data, if you run your numbers again for a single 4.0Ω coil, you'll get the same coil length/wrap results.

Thanks so much for the response ... Please let me explain my situation:

I want to replace my AeroTank atomizer on the top of my Caravela clone mod with a rebuildable tank/atomizer unit.

The problem is that since the Caravela is a fixed voltage mod, it obviously puts out 3.7v and the voltage is not stable throughout the charge of the battery ... so I bought a Kick version 1 to place in the 18650 tube along with an Efest 18500 (1100 mAh) battery. The Kick at least has the ability to increase voltage up to 4.5v and give a max of 10.0 watts of power. It also keeps battery voltage stable.

So, after all that, I ordered a Kayfun Lite Plus from a seller on Ebay. Now I come to find out that this particular Kayfun clone has 4 juice channels (just like the Aqua), and really only works well if dual coils are installed (like the Aqua). I was told my another member here that if a wick wasn't installed in each of the 4 channels, it would very likely flood.

The problem with all this is that the Kick (ver 1) is limited to 10.0 watts ... I need to find a dual coil arrangement that won't pull more than 10 watts total. (that's really 5 watts per coil as I understand it).

Looking at the "Voltage / Resistance Calculator" here: Ohm's Law Calculator ... I figured out that the best I could do is supply 3.5v into 1.2 ohm coils. That would require 10.2 watts total power (or 5.1 watts per coil) ... which is just slightly higher than the max 10 watts the Kick is capable of putting out.

And to achieve this, I looked at the "Wraps and Dimensions Calculator" here: vape calc ... I figured out that if my "target resistance" is 1.2 ohms, and I wanted to use 32 AWG wire, I would need 10 wraps on the coils (I guess that's 10 wraps on each coil?) ... I picked 32 AWG wire because I heard that anything thinner that that is hard to work with, and I really didn't want to make any more wraps than 10 per coil (I really think 10 per coil is a lot) ... but what can I do given my situation.

So, that's where I stand ... I hope I am understanding all this correctly?

Initially, I am not going to plug the two extra juice channels.

I have changed my mind on this atomizer ... Instead of building it with 2 coils, I am just going to use a single coil like what the standard Kayfun / Russian uses.

I am hoping that just because it has 4 juice channels instead of 2, it won't flood ... we shall see.

I am going to use a single piece of Kanthal 32 AWG wire wrapped around a 2mm rod for the coil's inside diameter. Then make 7 total wraps of the coil in order to make it a 2.2 ohm coil.

Then feed it 4.3v

(2.2 ohm load @ 4.3v = 8.0 watts to the single coil)

The Kick 1 inside my Caravela (clone) mod has an output range of 5.0 - 10.0 watts, so the 8.0 watts should work well with the Kick 1 and the coil.

If this don't work ... I can always go back to cigars

I received a 4 channel kayfun clone, and it works stellar.

Basically using a 1.8 ohm microcoil wrapped around a 2mm precision screwdriver and wicked with cotton, the key for me was to split the wick into 2 at each end to fill each juice channel. I also let the wick just pop out from under the chimney.

To date, I've ran about 10 tanks through it changing the wick each time, not a single flood or dry hit.

It does work but I admit it is a bit fiddly compared to a taifun but works just as well IMHO
