Not a newb to building these, been at it a while. Not to say I am not missing something. I have done all the normal wraps and micro-coil cotton or cotton hemp twine and with Ekowool. Bottom line is more than half the time I start thinking my flavor is being muted.
Either by the wicking materials themselves or some other anomaly. I have been tempted to run in a local BM and see if I can get more flavor out of one of their cheap tester units. It isn't like this all the time but often enough it is concerning. I am aware of vapors tongue and know it could be my taste buds playing with me a little. I am wondering if there are others out there who have dealt with this with their KFL builds. Thanks. By the way I am not blocking the juice channels, I am not tamping the wick down, etc I got the basics here. Thanks

I'm with u....I have had my KFL+ for about 2 weeks and find it is hit or miss. If the build is not just right (using cotton wick) it flat out sucks.

I have had good success with the chimney build, but any mess up on my part with the coil or amount of cotton, and it just does not vape good. Not just that it is not a great vape, but if I mess up in any way it flat out blows, like does not compare to a Kanger t3 or protank. The flip side is when I do get it just right it is amazing. Defiantly more temperamental then I expected from the online chater.

Actually, you guys seem to be the exception, not the norm with these. To me the pro tanks and such have been way more temperamental than the Kafun clan. I am currently rocking a KFL EHPRO and a R91 and life couldn't be better! In fact all my other tanks and rba's are sitting in the drawer now.

the biggest problem i've had so far with my cotton builds has been TOO MUCH COTTON!

what i was finding after tear downs was the cotton was darkened/black/burnt towards the center of the coil. Using less cotton helped greatly with that and I would only find lightly browned cotton after 4 to 7 days of use. All my coils were around 1.6 ohm but i've since taken off 1 to 3 wraps on my toothpick to bring it down to 1.3 to 1.4.

The next thing I did with my VV mods was to drop down the power. After watching a P Busardo video where he was doing the same thing I dropped my power down to 8 watts which works out to 3.6 volts on my DNA 20's. Flavor is amazing. I like it so much that I'm currently running my Kraken with a cotton in auto dripper on a 1.4 ohm micro coil at 8.1 watts.

I agree Roscoe seems the same here. And Xcighippy I get what you are saying I had a good month run before this all started. I hope it doesn't happen to you but if it does you will come to understand what I am talking about. Maybe I broke it in and some O ring is messed up or something I don't know, but like above If I don't get the magic build it really does suck. Flavor very muted, etc. Draw is always good but if the flavor isn't coming thru than the rest doesn't matter. I know it is a great product, I know it is me somehow, but I am wondering if anyone else has these inconsistencies or am I just a crappy builder? Thanks

Well between clearos, cartos, gennys and KFL, the best flavor has been from the gennys and KFL with KFL being the most consistent and easy to set up. For me anyways.

I guess time will tell. Funny thing is, I had the same problem you describe with my pro tanks. All was going great, enjoying my new awesome tank, excellent flavor and vapor. Bragging to everyone how great it is than boom. All of a sudden I couldn't build a coil that would not flood, gurgle, or taste like crap to save my life! Now that I'm using KFL's all is good again but....I guess I should stay tuned..
