Kayfun Lite RTA on an eGo Battery

Hello,

If you've read my last post, you would know that I am currently vaping on an VV eGo-V V2 Mega (3-6v, 1300mAh).
I was going to buy an IGO-L but decided to go ahead get the kayfun Lite.

I don't have any mech mods at the moment, so I was wondering if there were any dangers as to running a rebuildable on the eGo.
I don't plan on going sub-ohm, gonna try staying around 1.5-1.8 ohms.
Would this be a good idea or is there any specific battery dangers I should be aware of?
Should I just buy a mech mod? Or is my battery good enough for the rebuildables?

Thanks guys.

A mec mod would be ideal, but if you are not sub-ohming it won't be that big of an issue.. The only thing is that the re-buildable atomizers flourish with the mec mod because of the higher wattage it produces.. That's pretty much it. If you were to have a mec mod with a protank or some other non rebuildable clearomizer/atomizer, then that would just burn right through your coils.. So you don't necessarily have a problem, but you could be getting more out of your kayfun by purchasing a mec.

Welcome to EFC αPsilacetin-θ.

1.5Ω may be too low, and if you spend a bit of time learing Ohm's Law, you can figure that out for yourself. There's no magic or special powers imbued into a unregulated mechanical mod, or high powered APV that aren't governed by the same laws as your eGo battery . It's math - not vague BS.

Do you know what the maximum continuous amperage drain of your eGo is? Most are in the 2-2.5 amp range. Lets say your's is the lower common value of 2 amps. Lets also say your voltage limit is 3.7.
Both these values a reasonable and likely not far off the mark. You can look them up if you know the brand/model of your eGo. If not, assume lower limits or higher resistance values... to be safe.

Run those numbers through an on-line Ohm's Law calculator... and we get a minimum resistance of value of 1.85Ω. Starts to make sense, doesn't it? Most ready-to-go, replaceable / disposable coil head atomizers - be they clearos, glassomizers or cartomizers - have heads available with a lower resistance of 1.9Ω.

So, there you have it. Do the math, and you'll find that your eGo can support a resistance of around 1.9Ω. As an example, 10 wraps of 30ga. Kanthal on a 2mm mandrel would result in 2.0Ω+/- resistance.

Its not ideal. If I were you I'd wait and get a mechanical or regulated device, and use a multimeter. If your coil is unstable when you first build it the ohms can really fluctuate and you can short out your ego, basically.
This short thread has some more info, more to do with a straight ego:

Staying within the ohm limitation for your battery is one thing, but you also need to factor in that if you build an unstable coil the ohms can be all over the place.
