Hello, have owned an itaste MVP for a while and went from using protank with purchased coils to rebuilding protank coils. Then got a protank 3 and a mini protank 3 and rebuilt. Then a taifun GS rebuildable, and finally a kayfun rebuildable. I have had no luck with this kayfun. I am going to return it but the thought crossed my mind, maybe the kayfun sucks because of my itaste MVP? I have made about 10 or 15 coils (micro, chimney, cotton, peaches and cream) and every time it has crap flavor and hardly any vapor. Spent a long time on this forum and YouTube hoping to find a BUILD that worked when now I feel my problem was my DEVICE the whole time. Could I be right?

My buddy has a kayfun on an mvp.. works great for him. Hes building coils at about 1.6ohms, what are you building at? what kind of wick? what ga wire? any chance we could see some picks of the build(s)? may help troubleshoot any problems that come along with the kayfun. It sounds like you've done some building, but each atty is a bit different, so the knowledge isn't always 100% transferable from one atty to the next, especially with RTAs.

Personally I find it pretty easy to build, but if the wick isnt set right you could get dry hits/bad flavor.

Yes of course here are pics of the recent chimney build I followed watching the riptripper video. Notice that the cotton is burnt... Hope these all post properly.

If all the other rebuildables you've used on the MVP work fine, but not the kayfun, the issue is either the kayfun (if quality control slipped - particularly an issue with clones) or your build/wicking. All rebuildables have their own "personality" in terms of what builds work best. I have found this to be true even between identical atomizers (same manufacturer)... the differences are smaller then, as they should be (fractions of millimeters) but they exist nonetheless.

All the MVP does is provide power to your atomizer. Provided you're at a high enough resistance (.8 or higher, although I stay at 1 ohm and up), and not hitting the amp limit, (which is unlikely provided the build is a high enough resistance to fire in the first place), then the battery is not your weak link.

looks like a tight coil, I imagine you checked for hotspots..
I havent done a vertical coil in my kayfun for a while, if ever. I usually stick to a standard micro coil around 1.4, but I'm on an apv. My buddy does a 1.6 (like i said) with 28ga kanthal.

may be too much cotton. The juice channels are clear, which is key, but it may not wick fast enough. in my experiance cotton absorbs better than it wicks (soaks instead of drawing juice to the heat) so less is more.
I'll post a pick of my build after I empty my kayfun.. probably tomorrow - hopefully that will help.

I really appreciate the input from everyone. I spent a few days trying different builds and searching this forum before making my post. I'm even considering the juice I'm using as a factor. I have been using nicoticket (AWESOME) but recently ran out and have been using sub par stuff from a local place called kings of vapor in ohio.

Have you tried a standard microcoil in it? Did that cause the same issue?

I like to start any new-to-me rebuildable with a standard microcoil around 1.2, and get that working first before I move on to other stuff. If you start from the same place with each atomizer, it makes it easier to troubleshoot from atty to atty. If you haven't gotten a standard microcoil to work to your satisfaction, I would start with that, as opposed to trying lots of different kinds of builds. Consistency re: type of build, resistance, implement used to wrap, etc - helps narrow down the variables at work.

Also, when you get a build in it, it's worth assembling it only as far as the complete chimney and having a few vapes off of it that way, dripper style, so that you know for sure whether it's wicking well, too harsh, coil needs adjusted etc without having to drain the whole tank.

here is my build. Hope it helps.
How is your airfow? is it a super tight draw? remember this thing is vacuum based, so as you draw on the device there should be enough pressure to draw some juice up into the juice channel, and not just pull all the air you are getting from the air hole.
my build is 28 ga wraped on a 5/64 drillbit.

I forgot to take a picture of it juiced before I filled the tank... basically i juice it up and spin the ends of the cotton toward the deck with my nettle noise tweezers. that keeps the little furry ends out of the juice channel when i'm putting on the build deck cap.

hope this helps.
if not we could set up skype and maybe trouble shoot it further. your call.

You can build any number of wacky coils on a kayfun....doesn't mean they'll work better. I've been using kayfuns for about a year and I love to tinker. I've built a ton of different set ups in a kayfun. I have 6 of them at the moment. Right now, they all have standard micro coils, laid horizontally over the air hole. All are wicked with either cotton or rayon. All ohm out between 1 and 1.4 ohms. All have .28 kanthal. Why are they all the same? Because thats the build that performs the best. With kayfuns, simpler is better.
Cut your cotton flush with the top of the chamber and tuck the tails down next to the channel. Don't block off the channels. With thicker juices, you might cover the airhole and take a quick draw with out pressing the button. That will help juice get to the coil. You'll probably see a bubble. Just enough cotton to reach the bottom of the deck is all you need. Packing the chamber is no good.
