You can build any number of wacky coils on a kayfun....doesn't mean they'll work better. I've been using kayfuns for about a year and I love to tinker. I've built a ton of different set ups in a kayfun. I have 6 of them at the moment. Right now, they all have standard micro coils, laid horizontally over the air hole. All are wicked with either cotton or rayon. All ohm out between 1 and 1.4 ohms. All have .28 kanthal. Why are they all the same? Because thats the build that performs the best. With kayfuns, simpler is better.
Cut your cotton flush with the top of the chamber and tuck the tails down next to the channel. Don't block off the channels. With thicker juices, you might cover the airhole and take a quick draw with out pressing the button. That will help juice get to the coil. You'll probably see a bubble. Just enough cotton to reach the bottom of the deck is all you need. Packing the chamber is no good.

I agree 100%

I have three kayfun lite + (ehpro clones) tanks and they are all set up as you described above. I love my kayfuns!!

The MVP is a battery holder. It just so happens the battery is not user replaceable (well readily anyway). All battery holders do one thing.... deliver power.

I drip, use a kayfun (err used till I broke it), and use tanks (all varieties) on my MVP.

I disagree with this... In principle. Mechs are different than dna30s which are different from provari style which are different from egos.

That said, there is some truth to the comment... With a resistance of around 1.6-2ohms you should get similar performance at a given voltage.

Looking at the atty there are several variables at play, off the top of my head:
Resistance (ohms)
Airflow (to the coil, and to facilitate vacuum functionality via negative pressure in tanks that require it)
Wicking (closely tied to the vacuum with tanks)

Any of these things being off screws with the vape.
It can take some fiddling to get it down.

In my experience the kayfun was easy to build and get working, I think it was 2nd or 3rd build until I got my process down to something I loved and I stick to that for the most part.

I really appreciate the input from everyone. I spent a few days trying different builds and searching this forum before making my post. I'm even considering the juice I'm using as a factor. I have been using nicoticket (AWESOME) but recently ran out and have been using sub par stuff from a local place called kings of vapor in ohio.

How is it going? Getting anywhere? You may try the local shop to see if they will show you how to rebuild it... Be careful with this though, some shops pretend like they know what they are talking about, but at the end of the day, it's like anything on this forum, get lots of opinions, and do your research.

Eh, I'm gunna say it's because of how small the air hole is. when i was using a kayfun(before i broke it because i tried drilling the air hole out. lol) i vaped it at 6 watts because of how small the air hole was, any higher and it would burn it. it's kind of a good thing that i accidentally broke it because i ended up buying a rda trident v2 and the thing rocks. On my mvp 2.0 at 11 watts it definitely chucks the vapor. so to clear things up a bit its prob not your mvp. 11 watts is plenty for a decently built dripper.

What kind of coil is it? Resistance/diameter/wire ga

Uh, and you're blaming the KF?

The fact that someone can't take their kayfun above 6w without getting a burnt taste is a reflection on that persons ability to build and wick a kayfun properly. Its not the size of the air hole.
Mine is currently set to 22w with a stock airhole. I use 80% VG juice. Its a 1 ohm coil. Working perfectly.

I use 1.4 at 15-17w with stock air hole, wide open. I usually use higher vg as well... Usually vapes well, but if I'm using it a lot, some times I need to take some extra hard unpowered drags to prime the wicks with the thicker juice.

for the OP ...I doubt Rip uses a vertical coil with a MVP in his everyday life..and chain vapes while driving to cash his youtube checks...in the video..he presoaks his kayfun pretty good and you can get few hits before noticing a dry hit. I'm sure if he was going to do it..he would thin out the cotton more..

Vertical coils in my opinion, needs a flood of juice coming like Moses pardoning the sea, look at the the Origen v2 RBD if you want vertical coil and kayfun type of flavor....
setting up your wicking material and how it wicks against gravity plus getting right vacuum effect is probably causing your dry hits...
You can try making wells deeper with dremel...or thinning out the cotton more

I used my MVP with Kayfun lite for a year and produces great vapes/flavor where my analog friends were lining up at my table to try it at restaurant bar (yeah..some Asian restaurant bars places look the other way for smoking inside)
