Kayfun noisy at lower ohms?

Just rebuilt my kayfun lite plus clone and boy it's noisy now. I used 28g kanthal micro coil at 1.1 ohms. The previous coil was 30g kanthal micro coil at 1.8 ohms and it was dead quiet with more vapor. I'm using a 1/16" drill bit for both and running it on mechs. Is this noise common? Would upping the ohms a bit quiet it down? I'm thinking of trying again but with the 30g and going to 1.4 ohms.

What kind of noise? Snap, crackle, pop? That would increase with a lower ohm coils since it's going to get hotter, and more quickly.

More like a gurgle, but it's not flooded. I put a 1.4 coil in it with 30g and it seems better.

You may have too much wick that's "flooding" the coil.
