Kayfun owners - Do you fill from the top or the fill hole?

I have a Kayfun 3.1 clone (hcigar), and I've always just filled it from the top. I've had a problem with it leaking from the primary airflow hole, and I think I can attribute it to filling from the top, because when I unscrew the top cap, the o-ring that fits on the chimney is so tight that it usually unscrews the base of the chamber. I pull the cap off, screw it back down, and fill, keeping the airflow hole covered the whole time. Typically, I have to twist up a paper towel and stick it in the airflow hole to get the excess out. After that, it works just fine.

Is this because I'm filling from the top, and the base of the chimney is coming unscrewed? I just found an old bottle of juice with the right kind of tip to fit in the fill hole and washed it out. I put some of the juice I usually smoke in there (I was told to use some everclear to clean out the bottle, but I can't have alcohol around - family member is an alcoholic, so I just used soap & water. It's a fairly similar flavor, so I'm hoping it doesn't taint it too badly), and I'm waiting until I use up most of what I currently have loaded to give it a shot and see if I have the same problems.

Anyway, do you guys fill from the top, or do you use the fill hole? Has anyone experienced any similar leaking issues with this atty? Or am I just doing something wrong?

I fill it from the top when I am out and about because I fear I would lose the screw in short order. Yes its normal to get a few drops of juice coming out of the air hole because when you cinch down the cap the air pressure created pushes the juice in the coil chamber out. I turn it upside down and blow it out into a Kleenex and I"m good to go.

2 Tobeco Kayfun Lite+ clones. Bottom fill typically, Top fill I had the over-pressure issue. I don't think I'd ever pop the fill screw out in the wild though for fear of losing it just like @18wheels says. Although I think I'm going to try @SueGeo's technique now... top fill with a flip at the end to snug it down. That would be the best of both worlds (no chance of the screw going rogue and no leaking from the tightening of the top cap.)

I usually bottom fill, but when my original fill screw threads stripped I top filled. Put a piece of scotch tape over the airholes, did the deed, screwed the cap on slightly, turned it over, finished screwing the cap on, turned it right side up, and removed the tape. Not a leak was seen within 5 miles of my kfl clone.

3.1 clone. Top fill. Bottom filled once. Then the valve was all jacked and wouldn't stop leaking even after cleaning. Broke toothpick off inside of hole now it is sealed. No issues with leaks. I do the air hole cover then screw and flip method as mentioned above. A tip of that sticking ring is put a little juice on the o ring to lube it so it doesn't twist your chimney off when removing your top cap.
