So I just got my new Tobeco Kayfun clone. Pretty excited when I got it, sad to say that bubble would soon burst. I decided to go ahead and vape it right out the box with the coil that was already built with it. The ohms checked out at 2.0, I dripped some juice on the wicks, closed it and then filled the tank. the first 2 hits seemed fine but just burnt after that. so I threw the coil away and decided to build my own. I washed the while tank off first soaked it in hot water for about 5 minutes and wiped it all down. building the coil: 30 gauge kanthal and 3mm silica. about 6 wraps with the kantal around the screwdriver that came with it, fed the silica wick through. Checked out at 1.8 ohms. not bad. But I still get the burnt taste helpppppp.

mine has pretty shallow grooves. I need to get around to grinding them out a wee bit. I could maintaine a good vape, but every 3-4 puffs, I'd have to block the air feed and pull to load more juice. I always get my best vape out of it when it's just boarderline about to flood.

I put it away in favor of dripping.

I was actually pretty surprised at how easy and hassle free dripping is. Even while driving.

So youre gonna give up vaping and go back to smoking because your cloned kayfun is defective?
Did i understood you correctly?
Man, just put that deffective POS away, and get something more simple. Like an RDA, or even a "normal" clearomizer.
No need to become DeathBYstinkerZ because you got a bad piece of gear :D

Try a cotton wick. The screwdriver that comes with it is kind of small for a coil, especially if you're using 3mm silica. You may want to check out some builds that have worked for others in these posts.

If you really want to stick with silica wicks, try using two strands in the coil and only tucking one wick into the channels similar to this.

Don't give up. You'll get it to work. It's a little science and a little art all in one. If you can get yourself a dropper to play with too. They can be very simple to setup and give you quite a different experience. Plus it'll give you something to vape when your building the tank. Much less stressful this way.
