I just purchased a Russian 91% and a kayfun last week. I'm totally new to RBA's. I'm seeking advice on some good tips for best flavor/vapor production on my coil builds. I'm definitely digging these, but I'm not as blown away by them as I was expecting to be after reading all of the overwhelmingly positive reviews on them. I know it's all in the build though.

I'm using an MVP v2 so I'm trying to stay around 1.5ohms. I have 28 and 32 kanthal wire. I find the 28 easier to deal with. I've just been doing a simple wrap... nothing fancy yet. I'm just trying to get use to building them properly before I experiment with different wraps. I've been using a 3/32 drill bit with 6 or 7 wraps... and some different variations, but usually giving me around 1.5ohms. I'm using cotton wicks.

My 2 questions are...

1. How much cotton should I be using? (and should I twist it tight or keep it fairly loose?)
2. How high off the base should I keep the coil?

Any other tips or advice you can think of for a new kayfun user would be appreciated as well.
Thanks!

Use as little cotton as possible. I twist the end just enough to get it into the coil and then pull it through. If it slides in easy I know its good, if it doesn't too much cotton. I try to keep the ends fluffy after cutting. I also try to have the length so that there are no sharp bends. ( kind of like a garden hose....you don't want any kinks)
The coil I try to keep low to the deck ( 1mm). Thats what works for me. I have seen others that are much higher up.

I use a regular micro coil diag. across the deck. Nothin fancy here.
