Wicking does matter, but you need more surface than 8 wraps. I don't know what mod you are using, but if you have 26g wire you should give that a shot. 28 is fine, but you will need to close off your airflow with the coil u have to get better flavor. Also try removing some wick. You don't want to stuff it at all. Just enough so it fits naturally. Trim the length and the width if needed. Better wicking will get more juice to your coils and result in a wetter more flavorful vape.

Yes. That would affect the flavor. Too much air to vapor ratio = poor flavor. You just want enough air to keep it from getting hot. Until you put larger coils in and run more watts you really want less airflow. You will lose a little bit of the clouds in the process, but the KF4 isn't for clouds at all really. If you want clouds you probably want to go with a TFV4. The rebuildable deck works good with 50 watts and you can build a VERY large coil in it xD. The TFV4 Mini is available now on preorder and is 22mm like your mod. It will come with 8... yes 8 coil options xD. I've seen them for under 30 bucks on preorders from china! The larger coils need 70+ watts to be useful, but it comes with several temp control and reduced airflow coils that are for 30-40 watts as well. Again tho. The rebuildable section is very nice. It's much larger than the KF4 and the top fill is even easier.

Sorry to go on about the TFV4 Mini, but it's a nice atty. Just reduce that airflow and the flavor will come back on you KF4. And when you find time, reduce your amount of cotton. It takes several times to get the cotton right.

Many thanks guys. I am not really a cloud chaser so that's fine.

I had been following builds on YouTube hence the choice of 28awg wire. Next order will be 26awg.

Twisting the 28 ? Hmm will have to do some research. Seen pictures but not really any more than that.

Cotton wise, I am using 3/16ths with 1 top layer removed, I can try less next time.

Thanks again for the welcome replies.

Much appreciated.

yes, if the airflow is really really loose, I use standard 28awg 8/7wrap on a 2.5mm, gives me decent flavor. The air flow regulator is underneath the whole deck, to open it up you need to unscrew the juice flow deck controller, be careful there is a spring underneath this deck. Once removed, set the spring aside, flip the deck over, you'll notice a hex head bolt, this is the positive pin as well as the airflow valve, there is a small flat head screw right in the center, this is the airflow control, using a jewelers screw driver tighten down 2 to 3 turns, might recess the screw, then put the spring back onto the pin while upside down, seat the base back on, and tighten the deck back down. You might have to do this a couple times to get the airflow just right.

I have a few Kayfun V4s. They are all setup the same. 28 gauge, 3mm, 10 wraps. They come in right at 2.1 ohms. The cotton does need to be firm but not overly tight and the tails should touch the deck. I usually juice the wicks a little bit so I can fold them down and trim them so they just touch. I also try to keep the juice flow holes uncovered. And then I screw the chimney down. I like a tight airflow and generally run this at 15-16 watts. Some of my juices are quite sweet and will burn easily. Plenty of flavor on this build. Oh, and some of the juices are 70VG.

I run my Kayfun with the 4s kit (larger air tube) and it's a very airy vape. Wicking is critical in the K4. I recommend you try a 3mm coil to start with. I also like spaced coils in my Kayfuns. Thin out your wicks once placed through the coil (comb the ends out), you will pull a fair bit of cotton out as you do it. Cut so the wick ends just brush the deck when folded down, you don't want to block off the juice holes in the deck. Less is more with the K4, it takes a bit of practice to get right, but you should definitely get good flavour and decent clouds when you get it right.

As I understand you are giving advises for a wrong tank. OP has Kayfun.

KF4 is Kayfun 4... It is a common abbreviation. I mentioned the TFV4 as another option that would simplify things.

Well since replacing the air screw all is good and I got some flavour using t juice PG/VG 80/20...

Next test element strawberry whip high VG :)

Glad you were able to get some good flavor!
