help. I just got a kayfun v4. I cannot the ohms to stay still. they keep jumping around. does anybody know the design of the v4 well? maybe a center piece is loose or something? I don't know all the pieces yet.
I haven't had this problem with Kanthal, but have read that nickel builds can fluctuate problematically on account of the juice control spring, through which the current flows from the 510 screw to the coil.
Which wire are you using and how much is the resistance fluctuating?
Is it authentic or clone?
Do the ohms fluctuate with the juice control in a stable position? eg fully open.
How many turns of the juice control from lock to lock? It should be about 2 and a quarter.
Check your #9 screw - it should be tight. #1 should also be tight.
He never came back to see our solutions. I had the exactly same problems with my 2 kayfun v4 clones. I took my dremel tool with a small grinding head and sanded down both the top and bottom of the springs. Now it is working perfectly. Ohms are staying exactly where they should be.
Threads been dead for a while but I found a solution that worked for me. Just got a Kayfun v4 clone. I had the resistance fluctuations. I had a 1.6 ohm micro coil in that would jump all around up to 3.0 ohms. What I did was take off the build deck to where the air flow control screw is. I unscrewed that just a little past the post it's in. Put it back together and now more problems. Ohms are holding steady even after shaking it around. Only problem is airflow is pretty much wide open but I kinda like it that way. If you want a tighter draw it won't work I guess.

Update:
Must have been a coincidence with my prior fix. My K4 started to get a wobble between parts 3 & 5 I think they are. I pulled my hair out tying to resolve this issue. I tried to take the bottom apart put my post would just turn and turn. I pushed down hard on part #11. I heard a slight click and noticed everything shifted further down. My post was sticking ever so slight out the bottom now. But I put everything back together and the wiggle was gone. So I went back and pushed the up again to make it shift. Put it together and the wobble and fluctuation resistance was back. So I pushed back down and have not had the wobble or floating ohms since. Also since my last post I totally removed the air adjustment screw.
The best yet! I've used the kayfun lite clone for several months and finally sprung for the V4. I've been sneaking a real cig. at work, this stopped that. I love the airy nature of it. The lite was a tighter draw. I get all the nicotine I need to avoid the analogs. Filling the unit got easier, bigger cloud, better taste. I'm hooked.
