Sometimes my kaynfuns frustrate me so much! They work perfectly for months but every once in a while I just can't seem to put the right amount of cotton in and get burnt hits. I try less cotton, more cotton and they both give me a burnt taste. I don't know why this happens but it does and it drives me crazy! Then I usually just have to try 7-8 different re-wickings, then it's back to working like a charm for another coyote of months. Does this happen to anyone else? Just needed to vent.....

LOL! You are not alone! I have the same issue with Keyfun, Kracken and Bliss! When I get my cotton just right I'm good for a good week and a half, longer if I don't change flavors in the tank. Then like you there are those times when "it's too thin and leaks or too thick by a few strands an chokes or just too thick altogether". Then I get frustrated and grab my igo-w and regroup.
I get dry hits only when I fill my kayfun right to the top. So, instead of 4.5ml I fill it with 3.5ml.

It's weird when it happens because it's not actually a dry hit in sense that it's not dry and scratchy but it tastes disgusting but the throat hit and vapor are fine, so frustrating. Now it's doing this fun thing where it leaks and has that burnt taste, so that's cool.
The Kayfun is my preferred tank, but I've also gotten the dry hit occasionally. This usually happens when I've attempted to vape it too many times in a row. I've since learned to wait awhile before the next vape.
Update: On my next wick, I put more cellucotton/rayon in the coil, and I haven't had any dry hits all day, even after taking several vapes in succession.

Funny that you should ask because I think I'm using this organic sterile stuff but I'm starting to think I accidentally grabbed some normal stuff. It's crazy because when it's not sterile it can cause the grossest taste. Whatever they use to treat it must burn a lower temp then the e-liquid vaporizes at. I'll post an update once I can get back home to check...
That's exactly what I thought. Try to get Muji cotton on eBay for 8 bucks. It does a great job for me better than even KDS.

I know I'm pretty late getting back but it was the cotton. Got some new organic cotton and I'm back vaping like normal!
I've been using Muji as well. I order it straight from their site. Came to 7.50 with shipping, and the shipping was faster then many US vendors. I'm really starting to think USPS is just garbage. Anything I get via DHL and Fedex overseas comes faster save for Fasttech and Focalecig.
