Kayfun mini just received in the mail yesterday. Was happy to get it. Decided I would recoil my full size kayfun and the mini. I built two nice one ohm coils put them in burned real nice. A little jc cotton full then up with two kinds of nicoticket juice and went to bed.

Woke up happy took four hits off of the mini said nice it's not bad. The fifth hit burnt. Crap went to the full size same happened. Rushing to work and have a day long meeting and started panicking. Lucky had a pro tank mini and full sized 3. Load the juice and it's better then nothing.

Now can't wait to see where I screwed up on the kayfuns when I finally get home. Hopefully it is a one time screwup

Always have a backup for your backup

Bet you used cotton wicks, and used to much cotton. Sometimes less is more.
A 1 ohm coil is a little hot for a Kayfun unless you modify the juice channels.. Try a 1.5 ohm coil.

The silica (Ekowool) wick has now been in my Kayfun 3.1 for 8 months, and I still have never had a dry hit.
I just rinse it in hot water whenever the flavor starts to get funky.

I will respectfully disagree on this point. I run one of my Kayfuns, without any modifications, at .9 on a mechanical mod and have done so for months. As long as it is wicked correctly, there should be no issue. I run another Kayfun on a Vaporshark. For the DNA mods 1.1 seems to be my happy place.

I agree with you. I've got a .94 in a Kayfun on my mech and I'm loving it. Granted it's only been a couple days since I received the Kayfun, but still lol

You could use a syringe to fill it and put 3ml in there?
I think 1 ohm is the sweat spot on a mech with the kayfun. It'll be too much wick I'd imagine. But if necessary either take primer puffs or draw while covering the air hole. Just be careful not to flood it. You probably will until you get the hang of it. If you do, turn it upside down and blow through it until it's not spitting juice out of the air hole.

I build closed micro-coils at around 0.7 ohms on cheap slow-tech S.S. Kayfun clones (small juice channels), and for the past two years haven't had any problems with dry/burnt hits. The trick is in the wicking, you can't allow the wick to block/cover the juice channels it's as simple as that. My coils are 28ga wire wound around a 0.052 inch drill bit (very small), so the amount of wicking material needed is also rather small and easy to position where it doesn't cover/obstruct the juice channels. I pre-prime/wet the wick with juice and gently position/shape it before installing the chimney base. After installing the chimney base I visually check to insure the channels are still unobstructed before screwing the chimney cap on. I go through two tanks of 50% VG NET each and every day without a single hiccup.
