One thing to try with your non-charging batteries:
It could be that the contact has been pushed down, happens sometimes if they are screwed in too tightly. Using one side of a pair of tweezers, gently pry the little button that is down in the screw-on part of your battery, working your way all around it. It moves fairly easily, doesn't need a lot of force. Once it has been raised a bit it might take a charge. Good luck!
I agree with others than manuals are the way to go. Some Ego T batteries even have an on and off so they can't turn on in your purse.
