Keeping your carto wet in a tank

I usually punch two holes in my boge cartos, but I have a terrible time keeping them moist on top. I like them to be very moist to give the most flavor.

I'm wondering if I should start punching 3 holes? I have been using Malty Toffee from BWB which I believe is 70/30.

Anyone have any tips?

My favorite set up is a boge carto tank. One trick I use is to take off the drip tip for a little bit to let some air in. By doing this I've noticed that the wicking material starts to suck in the juice ever so lightly to keep it wet. On my pyrex tank, I twist the metal cap a little bit until I see bubbles coming out of the punched holes. The only problem with this is that sometimes I get carried away and too much juice gets in and floods the carto. If this happens, I take off the tank, wipe the battery connection and blow the extra juice out of the carto with the drip tip on. Even with the flooded carto you still get the benefit of blowing out any gunky juice and it keeps your carto relatively clean.

The top filler of a carto in a tank isn't supposed to be wet. I punch one hole. No problems at all. My mix is 70/30

Ive experimented with punched holes in my boges and found that 3 even 4 holes works great!!! Now smoke techs ive had flooding with 4 holes but 3 holes works great!!! Do some experimenting and find what works best for you ")

The tops of my cartos are never wet in my tanks. Unless I drip right on top of them. Its not a problem though, unless you're getting dry hits.

I slot my cartos (slot on each side). I was a bit worried they might flood, but a 50/50 is nice and tasty. I just pulled the tip off, and the top does look dry, but doesn't seem to matter, the hits are much better than just using a carto.

Th coil is on the bottom why would you care about a little juice that's at the furthest point from the coil? Don't understand that one. I have been using carto tanks for a year and have never had one wet all the way to the top unless it was flooded.

Im so glad that people are mentioning the fact that cartomizers are not actually supposed to be wet on top. This drove me nuts for months. I kept trying to keep them wet and thought there was something wrong. I heard this about the tops only about a week and a half ago. What a relief.

Another carto myth is they should be lasting weeks. I know there are some that do get a weeks worth but what we rarely hear are the details, such as light vapors, those that vape about a ml a day or those that use real thin juice ; high PG juice. Also certain juices are just harder on cartos, not necessarily heavy VG, but organic tobaccos with naturally extracted tobacco. They just seem to have more particulates ? Also the dark juices, those real amber almost black juices, clog up cartos. I have some real lite juices, the golden or almost no colour ones and I have been able to get a few days.

BTW. I have been playing around with different hole configurations. Ive tried everything, again this was when I thought the top was supposed to be wet. I now have 4 holes along the bottom; 2 larger holes and 2 smaller holes , spaced 1 lg, 1 sm etc. and then one real fine hole up higher on the carto. I got a great new carto punch that gives me the finest, least distortion that I have found. I got it over at VIP :http://www.vipvaporcig.com/accessories/cartomizers-1/aluminium-cartomizer-punch.html, a bit costly, but the precision of the holes and the clean hole I get is worth it. I was using another by Siam Mods, but the screw kept getting dull and holes were coming out larger and with more distortion.

Most people either have never heard of them or just never tried them before but the Mom and Pop mini sub tank is great. It has a thumb screw on the side that allows you to fill with a blunt tip needle. The best part is you can take the screw out to allow the vacuum in the tank to equalize and you will see the little bubbles come out of the cardo. It may help you with keeping your cardo a little more full. It will never allow the cardo to fill to the top but that is not really important. By the way boge cados rock I will not put anything else in a tank, single coils all the way lol.

I slot my cartos as well, 2 slots on the bottom. I have found though a third slot at the top that just barely cuts through to the polyfill helps the carto wick on the super tight fitting tanks like J-Tanks and Phiniac or Valley Vapes pyrex tanks. It's a learning process though and depends on the pg/vg level of your juice as well. When done right it wicks perfectly all the way through without any sucking, blowing, venting or flooding.
