I've rewicked the thing three times now and I'm getting vicious dry hits off of it. It's fine at first so I know I'm at least getting the initial soaks off the directly saturated wick. If I hit it now I'm immediately hit with that nasty taste. I disassembled it and the wick is fully saturated. Am I look at an issue with the coil?

I'm using a micro coil with cotton.

Yes in a kayfun, in reality though...it could be any atomizer, when you've got to much cotton thru your coil, Kayfun or not...the cotton swells quite a bit, choking off the wick.

If you do a search you'll find a few great Kayfun threads that should be able to get you up and running in no time, don't give up on the Kayfun, it's fantastic.

Just make sure you have very slight drag when you pull the wick side to side, loose it better than tight every time.

I rebuilt it two additional times... final time used less cotton. I'm still getting dry hits. It's a 1.5 ohm coil. I'm still getting massive dry hits after the first couple rips. If I take a slight drag, there's no flavor whatsoever. I reduced to 4V, and there is still no flavor but the dry hits stopped.

Are you pushing it down to the feed channels blocking the juice to wick properly?

I use cotton on my kayfun builds and I have 4 of them and not a single one gave me dry hits, but like the other guys said if you over pack it will give you dry hits.
It's not overpacked though. Like I said I used less cotton this time, and I've used more cotton before and had success. This is the first time has happened to me.

Maybe post a pic of the set up to give us a better idea of what your doing.

I love Darkest Hour.

OK, let me rebuild it and get some pics.

Im not getting into the more is less and less is more stuff, but I had the same problem. My fix was to put in the cotton, layer lightly down and across the juice channels, going back up and lay the cotton accross where they started from (on the sides of the Coil). This keeps the juice all wet and flowing at all times on my coil. Just make sure that after you wrap, the air hole directly under the coil is clear of all cotton so you get a good "power hit".

Good luck on however it comes out the best for you.

Good call, my draw is real loose right now. Let me tighten it up. I didn't overfill, I filled to slightly below the tank line this time since I don't want to waste any juice.

The good news is the dry hit stopped on long drags. I think it was the cotton wasn't pushed into the channels. I'm getting good solid flavor now.

Edit: Yep, tightening up the draw helped immensely. I am stilling getting a little dry hit on longer drags.

Ya, a little more cotton then most would say is "acceptable" lol, but imo its so subjective. Seems everyone builds different and some stuff that works for some, doesn't work for others. I have my air file screw out, im going to try to tighten it a bit and see if that helps with MY occasional dry hits.

And +1 on Darkest Hour =) Love em, love em, love em.
