I started cleaning and organizing some totes in the garage and I ran across some copper strips I pulled from track lighting awhile back. I thought hum... VW in the REO would be way more fun!

My 3 RM2's built with .7 (my favorite), 1.2 and 1.8 ohm coils that I thought would be a decent test. They all hit the same and surprisingly sounded the same too!

It stays put during battery changes

It was a quick eyeball copper strip bending attempt just to see how well it worked with the different coil resistances. Sometime I'll bend up another copper insert with a few tweaks but this one is working great right now and it removes easily.

Now I get to discover how long 18490's last?

The copper insert was easy to bend and cut.

The hardest part was soldering the L piece to the tall S piece... dang copper gets hot fast!

The spring still has a little compression space left and the fit is very easy to insert and remove.

I didn't notice any hit taper when I swapped the first battery out (just because) and it showed 3.6V on the charger. That's usually about where most of my changes take place because I start to notice a hit change. Haven't noticed or hit a low battery indicator yet because, so far, the hit just doesn't change at all. Today I'll find out how far the kick lets me discharge a cell before I notice something?

I've not used this kick 2 in anything more than a couple hours, so the REO here is my first real evolv experience. My other non-evolv kick types would misfire as voltage got lower and happen sooner in mechs with high voltage drops or dirty fire pins. I assume misfire is whatever combination that causes it to see/hit cut-off voltage.

After a few days of using the kick 2 ... I can say that while it doesn't make a huge difference, it provides a more consistent vape. I typically swapped out the REO 18650 battery 3-4 times per day. I expected shorter use time with the smaller capacity batteries though it seems I'm compelled to actually swap batteries less often. I went to obvious cut-off behavior only once with the kick and it was simply a pulsed hit (on/off/on/etc...).

A new wick, a .7-1ohm coil and the direct 18650 battery might have slightly better vape at that short peak sweet spot. In contrast I can't really tell what my coil resistance is with the kick in place.

I wonder how many have tried the kick 2 and stopped using it?

I did get kick stutter at around 3.6V or a little less depending on what battery I had in it. My AW's cut out a bit earlier than my Efest batteries. When I got several other 30-35Amp batteries the benefit of the kick lessened. I'm running some LG 4.35V batteries now and they last a long time ... just wish I had a digital readout charger for them so I'd see what voltage they go in at.

I'm not sure if it's all due to the batteries or if the Magic wire coils, that I'm pretty hooked on, might possibly being more tolerant of lower voltage? Alas I'll find a use for my kicks one of these days :)
