They have a rule about talking about Clones???

In the beginning yes ... HEM was all about authentic high end mods. I don't know what the culture is on their forum now haven't - been there for a way long time until today.

he, he ... kind of ironic that a forum where you can't talk about clones has a thread about skirting the copywrite laws of movies and TV shows.

I wonder if my userid is still valid. I joined HEM a long time ago and haven't used it in like 'forever'. My 1st userid was deleted because I wasn't posting enough. I joined again and posted infrequently then just lost interest in that forum.
It's all gone off topic over there now. Personally, I could care less about clones stifling innovation with the FDA and whatnot, back when we had a lot of modders involved in the forum providing special lists and promotions for us and whatnot, a lot of them felt strongly about that and so the admins didn't want people disrespecting them by discussing it. Now, nobody cares, even I buy clones if the modder isn't providing the spares and whatnot I need.

It's kind of the opposite situation here, we can talk about copies of some schmuck's hard work or w/e all we want, but can't talk about kodi.

@kiba do you have FB. Also @mikepetro you want to be an admin?

Mine should be in my profile, I think

4 channel. The biggest factor in buying it was I have a tv that I can't get coax from my antenna too due to a firewall. With the Tablo the antenna runs directly to it and it broadcasts over my network. Setting it up this morning, hoping it all works as envisioned.

we can talk about KODI. We can talk about how to setup, modify and generally tweek it to work it's best.

We seem to get problems when we talk about anything that may hint at viewing something that could be copyrighted.

Yeah, you get what I meant though. 90% of the posts in here mentioned some sort of addon, also can't help someone who's having trouble or questions about addon "A" etc.

Yeah I don't get it either, why you can't talk about an addon that gives you copyrighted material for free when they aren't really illegal. It might be to use them somewhat but not talking about the addons. Plus I really doubt the the copyright cops are going to be searching a vaping forum for that kind of info, but this isn't a democracy. If it was giving forums so many problems then FB with 110 Kodi groups not to mention all the other addon related groups would be in big trouble. But it is what it is. If it was so illegal then these addons wouldn't be so readily available for free downloads.

As all rulings on Kodi state. You can receive copyright material via the internet and it's legal. Where the line is crossed is when you retain that material for any use. I don't see anything wrong with talking about any addon. Recording devices are the problem and will eventually take us down not on this site but the whole kodi community.

I agree with rob33. My read from retired's posts is that we can discuss Kodi (and such) and add-ons (as long as not totally dedicated to illegal streaming access). We just can't discuss how to obtain certain copyrighted content (i.e. latest box office film/sports PPV/etc.).

How to set up Exodus to watch Leave It to Beaver, no issue.
How to set up Sports Devil to watch a live MMA PPV event, a no-no!

Again, I wish he had listed several examples to eliminate/minimize our guessing and the tiptoeing thru 'minefields'.

Just my .02FRN...

OK.. the upgrade to 17.1 on my current device has gone about the way people have been complaining. Slower, less cache available, etc.

so I did a 3 day search for android TV boxes, and am getting
https://www.amazon.com/NVIDIA-SHIELD-TV-Streaming-Media-Player/dp/B01MYV94H3/?th=1
It's a bit expensive. For the pro version, about $300 $200 for the basic. But the reviews are outstanding. NVIDA is a KODI supporter, and AMAZON PRIME is there too. It also supports HD HomeRun for local broadcast channels, and you can get Nvida games galore in their app store.
Basically, if the ROKU is level 1, this is level 12.

Ken:
I'm sure you've heard me rant about Skystream but they have stuck with Kodi 16.1 and did an update to receive all the sources of Kodi 17 not sure that is available for all boxes but it works great. I have no problem getting HD and 1080 on all addons. No problems with cache. They haven't wanted to do the update to 17 because of the problems involved. All I know is I am able to stream just like I did before.
I have been getting a lot of streams lately where when a foreign language is spoken I get Russian subtitles which is a PITA but it is what it is.

LOVE my Skystream! So much available help and info and videos for this tech -illiterate oldbroad! And they're only a phone call-FB page away....

I'm sure there are other good products out there as streaming has become so popular , since the cable, etc., companies having been playing less n less shows and such and more n more damn commercials and raising the cost higher and higher..

I just bought another shield tv box, we're putting a different TV back in the kitchen.

btw if anyone wants something like the Nvidia box but still with good kodi build support there is a couple of ones out there doing it for free, I think the best one is the spoonfed guy, he has builds for android platforms that can't use 17.1 also.

Thats one nice thing about PIA, they have a client in PlayStore that installed with a minimum of effort. Loaded it on 3 Android Boxes in about 20 minutes, and most of the time was spent walking from room to room and waiting for the box to boot.
