Was trying to find a psu forum. Roku has one. Funny that you can't see anything while fast forwarding with the cloud dvr.
did you mean ps vue? That is kinda weird when you FF. I don't like the fact that vue doesn't have a guide available on Roku. You can only see what is on that channel right then.

OOps yes ps vue. Yeah, I'd need a good functional dvr myself. Nice channel lineup for the cheap packages. Does it run smoothly?

Yeah, I have caught up with all the episodes of Genius, watched Nascar today, but I'm going to try Sling. Vue has a cloud based DVR,but the recordings only last for 28 days, plus you don't have a guide available with Roku. The cheapest package is $30 but you don't get NatGeo Wild, History, A&E and more, but the biggie for me is no guide, you can only see what is playing now. You can record as much as you want as many channels as you want no limits. Sling with Roku you get a decent guide, $5 for the DVR feature but restricted to 50hrs and will keep it forever. To me it seems that Sling is much more user friendly with the Roku. I'm going to try it for 7 days starting tomorrow and the price for the Orange package with the DVR is $30 so its just up to you. If you have a PS or the right android box or tv or tablet with Chromecast or the fire I believe you get the guide. It is really irritating to me to not have it. Also the Vue you are allowed to be signed in on 5 devices Sling with the Blue package only 1 Orange package is 3 tho. Just like flavors individual preference. I don't remember if it was Sling that has some problems with buffering or if that was another. They are both the same price.

I have the guide on the shields(android TV), just checked

Tbh it's probably a personal thing which one you want to get, I had a hell of a time convincing my cousin to give up cable, he kept finding different channels and being all "oh it doesn't have this" honestly idc though if he's missing home shopping network or whatever, I still have to pay all this stuff and I barely ever watch TV, unless I'm sick & in bed or something... I mean I watched Dr. Who last week. That was it... & I didn't even make it through the whole thing... so he got over it. Between the Netflix, Hulu and PS vue, he'll be fine.

The channel lineup on the blue package on Sling is pretty good for $25, has all your channels @MikeE3 I think. DVR is only $5 extra. I has both NatGeo's, History, and Food Network plus for me it offers a normal guide with Roku. I'm going to give it a try will cancel Vue tomorrow before they charge me and give Sling a try.

Geez ... the Sling site (for me anyway) is confusing to use. Also the Blue package misses a couple few channels the Orange package provides like ESPN and Disney. You'd think Blue would be all of the Orange plus more. And ... when I click on the link to show me if some channels are available in my area the link doesn't work.

Yeah the guide is available on your device but not on Roku. SS with their build PS Vue will not work.

I'll have to check into that more but I thought it included those on the blue package. You can get both for I think it was $45 but seems like a lot for a couple of channels compared to 25 for the blue. This Kodi being almost totally screwed right now sucks.

They seem to omit certain channels with each package that if you want them such as ESPN, FS1, FS2, NBCSN you have to have both packages. Certain things are not available on any package from Vue, Anything to do with A&E like History. The guide thing is a hassle. I can get the guide on my tablet and use Chromecast but wife doesn't understand that at all. And like I say the build thing with the SS is not compatible with Sony.

OK I am now trying out Sling so far I like the interface much better using the Roku. I don't have ESPN or Disney but thats ok got all the good ones I watch, all the Nascar races and NatGeoWild, History, but the big thing is it is so much easier to use on the Roku. If I had a Shield I might have gone with Vue but I don't and the only way I could use it was to go to the pc guide mark my shows and then go to the roku and watch. One thing I don't know if I will like is the 50hr max on the DVR on Sling.

Yeah ... Blue and Orange channels included are strange ... You'd think the Orange would be all of Blue plus more. But it ain't like that. If you go with Orange and want the missing channels from Blue, it's like $20 more per month for only a couple-few more channels. I'd like Disney for the grandkids ... but that means buying both channels to get all I want. Ah screw it, I'll just pay through the nose and stay w/ FIOS.

Well IDK about Sling. I do occasionally get a stall in the show and it starts again, probably buffering, Also I get an echo in the sound much more noticable on the commercials. If Vue just had the guide on the Roku thats what I would get. The guide on the pc works tho. You can go ahead about as far as you want with days and pick shows and record them with the unlimited DVR plus recording as many different channels as you want at the same time. I'm going to have to think about this. I do like the History Channel but not all shows. I like American Pickers and NatGeoWild on SLing is just VOD. The quality of the stream and the way if you are watching a series it goes to the next episode.

KODI isn't really screwed.. Just fusion. There are other ways to get the packages you want.

Yep all my addons are tied to it. If you have RD the OpenLoad streams still work if not you have to pair for a few hours. Heard of another that works will check into that.
Just putting this out there, but there are quite a few countries where those providers don't require pairing.

I thought that years ago they told us that soon we would only pay for the channels we use.
If you are talking about dish they have an ala carte package but by the time you get done adding channels it's more then the regular. You even have to pay extra for locals. I am going to stick to my old obsolete package for $20 a month. If I change I can't go back.

I had mine "accidentally" cancel my account for a day. and "sorry, that package is no longer available".
My response was to get less, not pay more - ended up paying $70 less just because they ...... me off.

Yeah the only reason I have it at all is for Locals. Both of the streaming services have their pros and cons. Sling has guide on Roku, but it buffers slightly on live, very slightly but it does. Has a max of 50 hrs recording time on cloud based DVR and I believe you can only dvr 1 channel at a time doesn't have History but can watch all my favorites on there on Exodus, dvr is $5 extra. Vue no guide on Roku, Unlimited DVR as many channels and as much as you want included with all channels, doesn't have some of the channels available with the Blue package on Sling but found all the programs I like on Kodi, no buffering at all. They actually have just as good of quality as each other also nice to have the availability of FS1,2, NBCSN live no ESPN on Vue. The guide thing has a work around on Vue, you can go to it on your pc or for me my tablet remote or if you have a tablet. Since it is connected to you account if you set it to record it will be available on Roku. I believe with and Amazon Fire box and a lot of the Android boxes guide is available. Same price. Diff between the $30 package and $34 package on Vue is just a couple channels, Sling is $25 for blue package and $5 for DVR 50 hrs.
