Hi All,

Just dropping by to say hi. I've been a chain smoker since I was roughly 14 and just discovered vaping a few months ago from a colleague who happens to be a forum member here, 79Silo. Since that time, I am proud to say I have at least reduced my cigarette intake from 1 pack of 20 sticks a day to 1 pack a week. I wish I can say that I have stopped smoking all the way but that would be a target I hope to achieve by end of the year. I started vaping with an Ego C (not the twist version), then the Bolt (something like Silver Bullet), and now Provari Mini.

I think I mostly blame my habit for the reason as to why I can't give up smoking. Smoking while gaming just seems to be a must. Its like my PV just don't cut it. Right now, just experimenting with higher dosage of nicotine to get the edge off slowly. So far I have been able to kick the habit like after meals or when I hit the can. I've been vaping with 18mg juice most of the time. As soon as the craving starts, I go for higher dosage of 24mg. At this time, this sort of helps.

I wish to learn a lot more about vaping to help ease my addiction on cigarettes. Please do help a brother out by giving some tips and tricks on how to achieve this.

I thank you all for your support.

Hi,

You didn't say what kind of atty you are using, maybe you should investigate something like a DID or a Penelope for better flavor + vapor?

I myself went from 2 packs a day to 2 in the morning, 2 at night... but then one night, after about 1/3 of a smoke, I just decided that this suck and went and pick PV. Next day I had to go on a business trip, decided not to take any cig and that was that... happened pretty quickly and suddenly but everyone is different.

My vapor is not as much as his, but my DID still create a ton, but the potential of a good genesis type atty is pretty awesome.

edit: hmm video not showing up, link http://youtu.be/nEjcSsszoAE

Ah sorry about that. I am using IkenVape 2.5 Ohm SR cartomizers burning at 5 volts with tank system for my daily vaping in the office (thank goodness for cool bosses to allow this). Otherwise, I use the IkenVape V2 Cannon Atomizer 3.5 Ohms.

I am quite interested in Penelope after browsing around the whole youtube and most forums. Though I am waiting for 79Silo's package to arrive to test it out before making an order myself.

Hi Maximilius, welcome to ECF and congrats.
Smoking while gaming just seems to be a must. Its like my PV just don't cut it.
Sounds like you may want to look at an automatic passthrough. Also some vapers have found relief in WTA juice.
Whole Tobacco Alkaloid Eliquid WTA Aroma Ejuice
Good Luck and enjoy your stay.

Well, I'm still where you are so I can't PROMISE I have the answer, but WTA juice makes a HUGE difference for me. Without it, I never got that "Ahhhhhh" you get from cigarettes. However, with vaping WTA, the "Ahhhhh" comes after 2-3 minutes, not with the first hit. Still, it arrives within a noticeable time period.

Other than that, vapor with a lot of personality, so that it is a pleasure in its own right, helps me. I mix the WTA with 24 nic flavors that I like a lot. Like 555 and Gandalf.

For the last 2 days, I've been really craving cigarettes, so I'm creeping up again from about 1/4 pack a day to 1/2 pack BUT the weirdest thing is happening. I'll be in the middle of one and my hand keeps trying to put it out, and I'll wish I was vaping.

One forum poster mentioned something that might be causing that increasing disappointment with stinkys: when a cig craving hits, vape first for a few minutes, *then* light up.

You didn't mention what type of gaming (i.e. how many hands do you need) but I also wonder if you might want to try something with huge clouds of vapor and a somewhat bitter taste. I got some Gandalf from Heather's Heavenly Vapes and I hated it on first vape, but within a day I was missing it when I didn't have it...the cigar note at the end is weird to me at first but then it convinces my subconscious that it's real. It brings to mind a 10000-year-old wizard, too!

Good luck. Quiting smoking is one of the hardest things you'll ever do. And one of the best. I think everyone struggles a bit. I tried vaping a few years ago and ended up back on the cigarettes. Not this time though. Stick with it and I'm certain you'll love vaping even more than the cigs.

I actually play mostly FPS games like Battlefield 3. I actually don't finish the entire ciggie while gaming. I think not even half. I only light one up and take a few drags in between spawning and when the round ends. Thankfully I don't get shot very often and playing conquest large normally means a round would go on for about 45 mins, which means I don't actually smoke as much as I originally thought. But if I were to accumulate the smokes that I have been puffing while gaming for 2 or 3 hours a day, it could probably add up to only 3 sticks by end of the day. I normally just light one up, take a few drags, and let it rest on the ashtray. By the time I feel like taking another drag, I realize that the ciggie I lit up early is now gone. So I light another one up. Kinda hard to see all those go to waste.

Thanks for the wish :)

I've been trying hard like going cold turkey and stuff. But my willpower wasn't that strong. That is until I started vaping. I've been trying to get my dad to follow my footsteps but its a bit hard for my old man to listen to me. He went from a pack of Marlboro Lights to a few sticks of Cohiba Cigars a day. He said its almost the same as vaping because he doesn't inhale the smokes, he just taste them. I disagree with this as it is still very much alike to normal cigarettes , but still try to convince him to vape rather than smoke every time I see him.

The hardest cigarette to have is the last one.
I found it hard to quit that last smoke, especially around the lads in the studio or when a scotch came my way.
here's what I did:
I kept a couple spare cartos in my glovebox and a bottle of very heavy tobacco flavor with mid nic levels. I'd swap between my 2 510 batts if I were chain-vaping. After a little while I found I liked the smell of other people having a cigarette but hated the taste. Then I started to hate the smell too! The changes were subtle for me. I've had a few half-smokes here and there and I tell ya, they just don't taste like what I want and I always fall back to my handy PCC with my 510 and cartos :)

Good luck brother!

That's a HUGE SUCCESS in my books. You've already moved forward considerably and must give yourself a pat on the back. Some quit immediately and I know some highly respected vets here that took a couple of yrs to fully quit. It's no race and my belief is and always will be vaping should be a healthy and stress free alternative to smoking. Enjoy the ride and it'll all be good.
Cheers and the Best of Luck.

I wonder if having a special flavor with higher nic, WTA, and a lot of personality, just for gaming, might help. You can set it down without wasting anything, but I'm thinking you're looking for a certain feeling. On the other hand, I don't know if you can get in several pulls in a row without getting shot, the game I play provides safe places to hang out here and there, or friends to watch your back for a few minutes.
