A night or two ago, I put my battery in upside down. Mech won't fire now.

1) Did I torch my Kick 2?
2) Is there reverse polarity protection on a Kick 2?
3) Do I have to do something to reset it?

I have an 18650 Gus G22 mech. I replaced the hot spring with a brass post (standard upgrade for this mod). Inside I have an Evolv Kick 2 with an Efest IMR 18500 flat top. I use Boge 510 LR stainless cartos in a carto tank on top.

I searched and failed. If you have an RTFG answer, I'll need the link.

Thanks.

Hanzo.

First question is, did you try using it again with the battery in the correct position?
Eh eh. I sure did, right after muttering swear words. Neither flipping the battery around nor swear words worked.
I thought the Evol kick has reverse protection.
I have spoken to Evolv - the Kick and the Kick 2 do not have reverse polarity protection. Putting the battery in the wrong way burns the Kick out.
Did you try the mod without the kick?
I couldn't get a stack of dimes to work as a spacer to make my 18500 battery fit in the 18650 tube. I got my hands on an 18650 battery today, and the mod works fine w/o the kick.

I'll be drawing huge glow in the dark arrows on my flat top batteries to help prevent this in the future.

I have had the kick 2 for two weeks, and it is pretty clearly my fault that it's dead. Evolv replied to my email in hours, and offered to replace it. Outstanding customer service. Thank you very much to Evolv.

Sorry to hear your misfortune. I always buy button top batteries, not only because my Provari requires them, but to also avoid the issue that you had. It can be easy to put flat top batteries in backwards.

None the less, good to know for future reference that a backwards battery will ruin a Kick, and that Evolv has such good customer service to replace a Kick due to user error.

BTW, I'm sure you know that stacking metalic objects in your mod to allow battery contact (magnets or COINS) is a no-no.
