i've been reading a lot and the more i read the more confused i get.
what i been reading is about the 510 ego system. to my understanding those are all interchangeable with each other.
what i dont know is if they use coils. so i hope someone will help me with a simple setup. i would like a long lasting battery. i smoke a pipe now but hope to quit, so a tank that feeds from the bottom would be good also. my budget for this setup would be round $70 US dollars this includes the juice, coils and wicks if those are needed also. thanks for taking the time to read this and answering me.

hi althehound, Kanawha County here, starting in that budget will be tight but possible. Forum Suppliers ,--this link will list vendors online, it's much cheaper online than locally. I'd suggest a "mod" like the ileaf 20W, or 30W (battery) first. You have a couple different options from there. You can go with some mid level "clearomizers" which would only need the coils replaced. (I have Aspire Nautilus Mini's) My tank was about 25, not including coils. This is a basically simple set up, but I would recommend a backup battery (go cheap to start) because you can't vape when recharging most mods. If you shop online there is a link at the top of the page for coupons, ECF members get discounts at most of the places. On top of that you have the e juices. The secret to putting down the tobacco is finding the correct nicotine level. When I hit my spot two weeks ago I quit smoking. The forum is a great place for advice and information. Use the search box if something specific confuses you. About all the vape equipment in your budget will be interchangeable. Good luck!

Here's a very average starter ecig, an ego battery on the left, and an EVOD clearomizer (a fancy word for atomizer/tank/juice holder) on the right,

If you look closely at the battery, you can see two sets of threads: A smaller, inner set, those are the 510 threads. The larger outer set are the ego threads. So with an ego battery, you can use either 510- or ego-threaded atomizers. Many atomizers only have the smaller 510 threads, but every battery I can think of has 510 threading. Generally almost everything is compatible that way.

The clearomizer/atomizer/tank is what needs the new coils, and almost all coils are specific to that particular atomizer. So if you get an EVOD, you need EVOD replacement coils, and if you get a Nautilus Mini, you need Natilus Mini replacement coils. As long as you don't buy something labeled "Rebuildable", or "RBA", you won't need to supply the wick, the replacement coils are everything you need (when it's time to change the coils; a new atomizer will come ready to use).

I don't want to suggest much, since I'm a little out of the loop. There are always very barebones starter kits around, which many of us started on, but quickly moved on from. Here's an example of one. Surely people will have other recommendations (iStick and Nautilus Mini, almost certainly), but this is a classic :)

I started vaping when I went to the local cigarette store and bought 3 cartons, picked up a blister pack vape and some e liquid on a whim. I ended up taking 2 cartons back and exchanged them for more vape supplies, then took back my last packs and asked the nice people there to just give them away. I was (still) shocked how easy it was to go from cigs to vape. I'm sold.

ty all for the replies. i was looking at the spinner 2 battery but i think the iStick is way better on the charge by just looking at its specs. and im from mason county sir2fyablynutz.

I agree, the iStick is pretty darn nice for the price, definitely better than a spinner in my opinion. Just make sure to get a nice tank (Nautilus Mini or Kanger Aerotank come to mind) since the iStick tends to run a bit hotter than other ecigs. Only the 20W, not the 30W version, from what I hear.

al, you could always start with a simple unit like the spinner 2, and then use it as a backup when you upgrade. I don't enjoy spending other peoples money, so you have to take everyone's advice. I am convinced you will like vape well enough to be done with the tobacco, just find the nicotine level you need. It takes about 2 1/2 hours for the Spinner to recharge, it's a lot of down time without vape.

I am holding out on the 50 (or another more expensive brand) because it will allow growth into sub ohm coils and tanks should I desire to go there.

Just about every one of the suppliers from the forum site in my first post have "starter kits". You might find something there that will work tilll you upgrade.

The I-stick 50watt is probably one of the nicest 50watt mods available hands down my friend owns a vape shop and he just received a shipment with 3 50watters in it and I will tell you it puts out at 50 watts just as nice as my Sigelei 150watt bix does at 50 watts and for the money it is a no brainer. Oh and battery life he's on day 2 without having to charge it yet and he's running his Atlantis .50 ohm tank on it at 35 watts.

The Nautilus Mini is definitely a glass tank, and I can confirm this as I've held one before. The Aerotank (I'd get either standard or Mini, as the Turbo looks huge!!) is listed as, and looks to be, pyrex as well.

You're a smart man! Certain juices affectionately known as 'tank crackers' tend to be very hard on plastic tanks, glass will hold up to juice well. From careless dropping? Not as much. Ask me how I know :)

Welcome to ECF, althehound. Clearly you've made a good first step.

Starting out, I highly recommend visiting a local vape shop. They can provide a lot of information, you can put your hands on some equipment, and most importantly you can try juices to find a couple you like to get you started. If you find the gear you are interested in, find out their price and see if they are competitive with on line prices. Some may be, others won't be. But having a juice or two that you at least think you like is equally as important as the gear you will use.

JMHO and good luck as you start your journey! :vapor:
