No long distance, just around my town for exercise. At my peak I was riding 14.5 miles every morning in about an hour (dodging cars and turning lots of corners) Praying for rain to you Robin. Lets see if this helps....

I had to stop lifting weights because of a shoulder, and I never liked running so I bought a bike. I got 8 or 9 miles in this am but now it's mid 80's sunny and 100% humid. I put 1500 miles on my bike two summers ago and never left the city, love riding. My bike is a wallyworld 29 inch mountain bike, nothing special, just fun to ride. I put a thingamajig on it that tell my speed and mileage.

    Somewhere between here and there
My neighbor next door was more into it when he was a bit younger but still rides the same Trek bike he's had for a long time. The guy that lives across the street from me is a more serious long distance rider and does multiple state rides from time to time. He has some high end bike but I don't know enough about them to tell the difference.

I try to exercise 3 times a week but don't always hit that. I'll run a mile or two and do a bit of weights but nothing too heavy. I could do more but am just doing it to try to stay healthy. Last summer I worked myself up to 3.5 miles for the first time in a long time. When I was in the army it was nothing to go out and run 4-6 miles just to clear my head. Now I'm pretty sure that it would kill me.
