So I went to bed as normal last night. Then an hour later my cell phone rings (it's in the living room next to my pc). I get up and they had hung up. Check the log and it was my sis. So I called her back. Mom had tried calling me and couldn't reach me on my house phone. (wasn't an important call) Talking to sis, and sis called me. Now I'm awake. So I look at the house phone and it says line dead. It's a Magic Jack phone system, uses my internet line, which was working.

I said heck, went back to bed and said I'd fix it in the morning. Then I started thinking about it. Which made me get up and go fix it. Logged online and went to the web site looking for answers. Ended up switching the plug to the pc and it worked, but I'd have to leave the pc on, nope. Plugged it into the charger for my mods and it worked, so the usb plug for the power strip was bad. Bought a new plug this am. Didn't work.

Turns out the power strip plug was dead. I was up for an hour to figure this out.

I'm a sittin fer a bit.

    Somewhere between here and there
That sounds like something I would do. I was at work the other day troubleshooting a piece of equipment that a customer had taken to another shop first and they couldn't fix it. What they did do was change some of the wiring. I was about two hours into it and about ready to give up. I thought about it a little bit and dove back in. Thirty minutes later I put the wiring back according to the schematic and fixed the problem. I don't usually give up easy.
