Once your sense of taste starts to return it will be easier to tell. There is a hint of "burn" flavor that I notice, that is when I switch it out to be refilled. Also, if you can't taste that burning taste you will start to notice less vapor and less flavor. I can see how tasting less flavor is hard with menthol, those flavors are really strong.

I'm now mostly back to my case logic setup... tho it's a jumble in there it holds 6 xlong batts, 7 carts and two or three little bottles, cap removal thingie, etc, at least. I work very long days and want it all easily accessible in one place, and some choice.
I use the reg V4L cases when I want to get pretty, they're really nice. And I'm gonna turn the xlong case into something else; if it's gonna be a a jumble I want it to hold plenty. That case is the only dud product from V4L I've had. Too bad because before everything falls out it really seems excellent. I really don't wanna be pulling condoms off of batteries and all. Given the fabulous everything else, I lovingly forgive, but it's a royal PIA.

Alas, there's no answer to that question. "As many as it lasts you this time" is probably as close as anyone can come to a correct answer. There are just too many factors, from your method (are those hard or soft? fast or slow? And what is hard and soft, fast and slow and the infinite variations in-betwixt?), to environmentals, the battery charge, to battery type, to the age of the atomizer, to what I've taken to calling the "caramelization" on the insulating between the heating element and the batting. The list goes on ad-infinitum.

The trick to not burning up carts is to forget about trying to figure out how long they will last and trying to vape them to empty. If you've vaped it long enough to maybe suspect that it just might be getting low-ish kinda then you've vaped it long enough. Top it off or break out a full carto and put the old one in the refill stack.

Otherwise you are wasting a lot of good cartos that seem to last forever if you use them on full instead of vaping them to the burn point.

Personally I don't even really use the plastic tips anymore...I just vape it open and use a condom (cut short for easier on-and-off action) for the "tip". One carto lasts me approximately seventy-kajillion years, though I occasionally choose to drain it and start with a fresh refill if I'm seeing a lot of old or dirty juice in there (old juice tends to gather on the side of the filler when you leave it laying flat awhile and is visually darker than the fresh liquid - when I'm getting a lot of dirty looking juice it is time to drain).
