I think a Mac is a PC that is running the Macintosh OS...they are all personal computers.
Now, Mac vs. Windows...you have had serious camps for both, with some Mac users being adament that they wouldn't touch a Windows OS...and those same people now have Win7 running on their Macs...LOL
Watched a review of Win7 from some gal who is a notorious Win hater and Macophile, and she said she would use it...I nearly fell outta my chair.
I think the Mac commercials have run their course and are now bordering on just plain disgraceful. They have been running those two guys for a few years now, and to constantly take it to the lowest common denominator is just disgusting. I am trying to think hard the last Windows commercial I saw where they were blatently bashing on Mac...
Anyway, Mac USED to be for those doing graphic editing and beat out Windows easily in that department...and they USED to be more secure (mainly because there were so few users by comparison that hackers didn't even bother) but they have also grown lax...at a recent security convention a fully up to date macbook was hacked in 10 seconds, faster than any other OS or browser...to be fair IE 8 and Firefox fell too...but they both took longer than 10 seconds.
MacBook/Safari Hacked in 10 Seconds - Tom's Hardware
This is a link to one of the news stories, if you search for 'safari hacked in 10 seconds', you will find a ton of sites carrying the story.
So, to wrap it up...Mac is really no better than Windows...the Mac built machines are now using the same hardware as Windows based machines, and have been for several years...god I remember when they switched from their proprietary HDD's to IDE drives...why did they do that you ask, because Apple was
losing about $500 per machine when they were sold, do to the higher cost of the parts (less made=cost more per unit).
I have worked IT for a school district (dealing with both systems) for several years...they both have problems, that was all I cared about.
