I'm not trying to be difficult here but it would seem as though you may have a slight misunderstanding of how the RCA system works. I can post a picture of my 5v mod in a 2xAA box with an RCA jack if you would like.

You're right, I guess I misunderstood how the RCA system worked. I thought you had to make at least a semi-permanent change to the atomizer. If that's not the case, then, yes, most of my objections don't stand. The most important one for me, though, is that I really don't like how they look. That and the extra length. Maybe I'll build one and see firsthand.

Oh, and I would definitely like to see a picture of your 5v box mod!

Well, here it is. It's not pretty but it works and hasn't fallen apart, yet.:)
I had some issues that I hadn't anticipated and realized afterward what I did and how to do it better next time.

I had to include the pic as a link to my picasa pics. For some reason it won't let me upload images to the message or my album.

Cool, thanks. So that's an RCA connector on there? I suppose I stand corrected. :) Can you still screw it shut, or do you just rely on the tension to keep it in place?

Just remember to take the atomizer out when you put it in your pocket. I made this mistake a few times. Usually, I just got a hot surprise, but one time, it snapped the connector off and I had to reconnect it. With the shallow mounting depth, these are really susceptible to breakage.

Yep, thats an RCA connector. You're right about removing the atty. I just pull it out when I put it in my pocket. I think I am going to just use this one at home and use the one I built in a 3xAA box when I'm out. I need the on-off switch. I had to cut the screw post out of the lid but the snap works just fine. I really don't expect this one to last very long but my next one will be better and should last a little longer.
