Kr8 is great but now what

Ok so I have my KR8 and I'm enjoying the model for sure but I'm thinking about getting a different model because........ well because I'm a guy and this is my new toy lol The main thing that intimidates me when I start looking them over and trying to decide is all the different model numbers. 501 401 902 100293432.234 version 3.2 lol You get the picture. Then add in the more daunting task of trying to read up on adapters and attys and carts and tips and ugh have I made my dillema clear at this point? lol

So...........
Basically I'm asking if someone can help by using very leyman terms and going beyond very brief abbreviations as to what you could do with say a 510 kit. Explain the adapters what's needed why you would want them, etc. I know this is asking for quite a bit of in depth information but i'd happily send pictures of puppies and maybe even cowboy midgets for anyone who can help me out with this. I'm just kind of drowning in information and I've searched through the forums but it isn't somethign I have been able to find as of yet.

Oh no lol making a mod is waaaaaaaaay beyond the time and energy I have to invest right now lol I work, go to school full time and have my kids I raise on my own. I know they aren't THAT complicated but I'd rather jsut leave that to someone else with more motivation lolol

Cali, i can't be of much help but I will tell you I love my 510 for the vapor, but I really love my 808 for the flavor!! My xhaler @ 5 volts is the best of both worlds vapor and flavor. Sorry not much help, but you can still send pictures of the puppies.

I'm almost positive I'll go with the 510 I guess more specifically as to what I'm wanting to know is what are all the mods and I see like 8 different atty mods and such for the models and this is where I get lost. I'm asking for some much more specific information beyond "I use a 303 mod on my 501 and 902 with a 5v batt extra cheese please" lol That last sentence means absolutely nothing to me but it is a very common techy speak on here. So in order to make some informed decisions I'm hoping to have someone explain what all that means.

Just a couple of quick random thoughts:
- before moving to another model, you could tweak your hobby gene by getting some blank cartos and start exploring filling/refilling using different ejuice flavors and strengths--tons of vendors

- an extension of the first point is to go truly DIY with the juices and mix up your own. Check out the DIY e-Juice thread ( for calculators on mixing percentages, where to get supplies/flavorings, etc.)

- I started with KR8 too, then got a battery mod: a Little Chuck from thagbuilt.com (check out his sub forum here). I got one with a 510 connector and a 510-->901 adapter so I could keep using my KR8 cartomizers, but also could start fiddling with 510 atty's--now there's a hobby for you: it opens up all kinds of experimenting with cart mods (subforum here) where you get to fiddle with material to get the best vaping experience, plus you get to figure out the best way to maintain your 510 atty's (510 thread here) or direct dripping.

- If you're thinking of high voltage (6v) vaping, you could get the Chuck (original, big brother of the Little Chuck that can vape @ 3.7 or 6v), also with the 510 connector, cuz then you could get other adapters from 510 --> ?? so you could try other kinds of atty's, all with the same battery mod (PLUS you can customize Chucks with any graphic you can think of for no extra charge--an even bigger time commitment figuring that out ). Also, high voltage then opens up experimenting with HV 510 atty's...

Apologies for any appearance of fanboy raving here...just going through my experience.

sorry I made a 6volt mod out of a flashlight and Im not a pro at all.
Just wanted to see what the hipe was all about.
the vapor and TH is crazy compared to my 901 and kr808
but I did just order a joye 510 kit yesterday mainly because the price of attys compaired
to the cost of a kit is close.
so the mod stays at home and the kits go to work with me

Arkangel you're starting to hit more specifically into the areas I need help with. You mention battery mods and connector adapters. This is where I'm getting more curious. I already mix my own juices and refill the carts for my KR8 so what I'm looking for is a little bit better explanation on what all the adapters and mods and such mean

So a mod would be one of the custom builds like the "chuck" that has an adapter on it for accepting the cartomizer from a KR8?
If I were to order a 510 kit I know I would need atomizers seperate from the carts but there are adapters that let you use different style carts on the 510? So I could potentially use a KR8 cart on a 510 or vice versa? It's just a matter of having an adapter that fits the threads?

You have three options:
1) Buy a different model's kit. What you have now is a 2-piece. The 3-piece models (most common include the Joye510, DSE801, DSE901, often referred to as 510, 801, 901) are different in that the atomizer is separate from the cartridge (that's what makes it a 3-piece). The models are covered basically in The Wonderful World of Vaping's Hardware section along with some photos of atomizers.
Honestly, it'll be a different experience and take some tweaking to figure out like your KR8 did, but you might or might not like it more.

2) Buy an adapter to use your KR808 batteries with a different model's atomizers. Basically what this lets you do is turn your KR808 into a three-piece by adapting the threads on the KR8 battery to the 510, 801, or 901 atomizer. You can buy these adapters from Heaven Gifts, Altsmoke, and I think GoodProphets. Then you buy the appropriate atomizer and try it out. This is a 'safer' option than #1 because you're not sinking money into a whole new kit, just an adapter and atomizer to use on your KR8 batts.

3) Buy a big-battery mod. This will definitely satisfy your gadget urge. They're basically just big substitutes for the regular e-cig batteries, and they'll give you longer batt life and possibly more power.

If you want way better battery life, buy a 3.7v mod (3.7v is the standard voltage on regular ecigs, mods just extend the battery life a lot). If you want better battery life and way more power (more oomph/vapor/etc.), buy a 5v or 6v (so called "high voltage") mod.

3.7v mods include the Little Chuck (Thag Built), the eGo (Janty), the Protege (Puresmoker), the BB (Altsmoke), the Bartelby, and the Screwdriver....
5v or 6v mods include the Chuck (Thag Built), the Prodigy (Puresmoker), the Silver Bullet (Altsmoke), the GLV (Great Lakes Vapor), the Xhaler (Nhaler), the Super T... I'm forgetting some of them right now. (Many of the 5/6v models also accommodate a 3.7v battery for ridiculously long batt life at regular voltage.)

You can Google search the forum for these battery mods and suppliers; most of the suppliers I mention have their own subforums you can check out. (Too lazy to make links to every single one, sorry.)

What these mods will give you is your choice of atomizer connector (most offer 801, 510, or 901 connectors; Xhaler gives you both 901 and 801 connectors; I think the Super-T and Puresmoker models all fit cartomizers on the 901 connectors).
From there you can buy a cartomizer adapter (if needed), adapters for any other model atomizer, and whatever model atomizers you'd like to try.

(OK, time for my personal opinion: I love KR8 cartomizers at high-voltage, so I like option 3. I use both a KR8 and a 510, so I first bought the Xhaler with both 510 and KR808 adapters. Really enjoying it. With the 901 and 801 connectors, and the 510 and KR808 adapters, I can try all four of the common model atomizers. Of course, now I want to try all the other mods too, but that desire for a new toy never goes away. )

I love my little 306 atomizers, and use them as often as my 510 atomizers.
So yeah, I think it is a a pretty good idea.
