KR808-D1 question

I've been doing alot of research on these forums in preparation for buying my first e-cig and keep seeing 3 styles mentioned more often than not...the Joye 510, the eGo, and the KR808-D1.

I've looked at each of those styles and will probably start with the Joye 510 until I see if vape'ing is really going to work for me. Will possibly upgrade to an eGo at some point in the future since I'm a fairly heavy smoker and will want something that is going to last a bit longer between battery charges than what the staying-power of the 510 seems to be.

One thing I'm wondering, though, is how and why the KR808-D1 seems to have so much popularity with users who already have a Joye 510 as well. From what I've read, it seems the KR808 only has a slightly more enhanced battery life than the 510...otherwise, it dosen't seem there's much difference between it and the 510? Unless I'm missing something in my reading?

Can anyone help me understand the advantages and/or disadvantages of a KR808-D1 as compared to a Joye 510? Or why someone might want to own both these styles rather than one or the other?

Save yourself the trouble and get the ego. Being a Heavy smoker i dont think those other models will hold up for you. When you get enough posts give me a pm as i bought an extra ego kit that im not using. Maybe we can work something out. Good luck i hope vaping works for you. I tried everything before and vaping has really worked for me.

I think it's the convenience of the cartomizers in a 2piece (808) setup, although you can get cartomizers for 510/ego, too. I think the kr808 may give a little more "kick", but I have a 510, ego, and 808 and use all 3 at different times.

I also have all 3 and use them all at different times... But seriously if you're thinking about an eGo get the eGo first...

I have both. I use the 808 during the day, at work. It's just more convenient, being smaller, and i can carry it easily in a shirt pocket. I don't vape much during the day, too busy, so i don't need the extra battery power, although i do have to carry an extra battery. At home i use a Riva 510(like the Ego only cheaper) with a tank. Don't believe the 808 could keep up with my apatite when i'm puffin and blowin at home.

The 510 battery life is really really bad. 808 battery life is much better. The advantage of a standard 510 is that it can take atty's, carts and carto's whereas the 808 is made to take carto's only. However, you can get an adapter (very inexpeisive) and convert your 808 to use a 510 atty, carts or carto's.

I think the big difference with the 808 is that the voltage is not regulated so when freshly charged you get slightly over 4 volts which give a stronger hit. Include this with the longer battery life and you have the two reasons IMO that they are superior to the regular 510 kits. Also if you shop around you can find the 808 starter kits for around $30.

I would however recommend just going to a ego usb with 2.0ohm cartomizers. I just made this switch from the 808 and couldn't be happier. However, I do still use my 808's. I prefer the usb passthrough option as you only need the one battery and if you charge it when ever a usb port or charger is available your battery is never dead. I am however ordering a second ego usb just in case something happens to the one i have.

Here is my recommendation for a starter kit.
Mad Vapes
1x Ego Usb
1x Ego cone
2x 5 pack 2.0 ohm Cartomizer
Backwoods Brew
1x 30ml 24mg Backo
or
1x 30ml 24mg Casablanca (sweeter and more flavorful)

Since everyone's tastes are different you may want to try multiple smaller bottles.

I have the 808 and the Ego-T, I never use my 808 anymore (although I might use it to stealth vape on a trip). At home and around town I use my Ego. I love love love it and would highly recommend it!

Just to clarify my preference for the Ego usb is that you can vape on it while it is charging.

But guess what; the KR8 can use a DSE901 atomizer without an adapter!

Bought the 808 and couldnt be happier. Decent battery life and performance. Never have tried other models, but am satisfied with the 808.

I've never used the 510 but from the comments I've read, it seems that the 808 has a better throat hit and warmer vapor. Also, the 808 has an XL manual battery (380 Mah) that lasts much longer than the 510, which I believe is only 180 Mah.

I started out with an 808, and liked it for what it was. Then I tried a 510 and liked the performance better, but battery life was much worse than the 808. Now I'm happy with my Ego, as it gives me the best of both worlds. Once you get past the idea of an e-cig matching the size of an analog, it REALLY opens up a lot of options.

I stand corrected, you are absoultely right because I also use a 901 atty on my 808....I just didn't want to throw so much information at a newbie. It's a great smooth mild vape.
We're all eager to make recommendations but the real question is what is Lynn011 looking for? If you're sitting at home or at work on a computer an eGo PT is great, so is an 808 PT but you can't take a PT out on the go with you...yes you can obtain a adapter to plug into your car while driving...but you can't take it with you outside the range of your computer or your car...so.

If Lynn011 is looking for something similar to a cigarette and the ease of cartos that she can go out with, attend social function with etc., then I would recommend a KR808. If she doesn't mind a larger than a cigarette look then an eGo PT would also work if she gets the ones she can unplug at the base of the eGo. A 2-fer as I call it; plug it into your USB while at home on the computer, unplug it, screw on the bottom cap so it looks normal and off you go.

For any of us to recommend a juice is wrong. Lynn011 didn't mention what she likes in juice or even what she use to smoke; and for us to recommend something right off the bat is really a waste of effort and money on her behalf.

You can indeed do everything a 510 can and more with an 808. I was a 510 guy from the beginning, and only recently tried an 808. Didn't think there would be much diff, but there really is. Battery life is a big deal to me. I use my provari most of the time, but a mini is great to have while driving or out at the bar. (less questions) There is a noticeable jump in bat life on 808 and being unregulated it has a better th and vapor even if it has a downward curve in performance as you use up the battery. Grab a charging case and you can charge while in your your pocket. You should look into a larger battery mod though as this isn't your all day workhorse. I recommend buying a box mod kit from madvapes for $8.50 and putting it together. It will have 900mah with a 14500 battery. or grab an ego. Good luck

I'm completely satisfied with my 808. I bought it because I didn't want to fiddle with a separate atomizer all the time.
It fits in my pocket while I am working. I take at least 2 with me to work every day. The batts last at least 4 hours. When I come home for lunch I swap batteries and top off my cartos.
I recently bought several 901 attys so I could direct drip new juices. If the juice is any good it gets its' own carto.

This pretty much describes my evolution and how I use them. I also own the 808-510 and 510-808 adapters so I can use all my cartos, carts and tanks with whatever equipment I like. They're only $1 at GoodProphets. My 510 also generally sits unused. I'm probably going to end up sending it to my cousin who won't seem to get off his duff and buy a kit for himself. That way he can at least give it a try.

So if I buy some 901 Attys will they attach to my V4L 808's? Then once it's attached, how does one test juice in it without filling a whole cart? Do I need a drip tip too? Any links or suggestions would be fantastic Mates.

If you're buying the 510 batteries so you can use 510 cartos, attys and carts, then you could just buy an adapter ($1 at GoodProphets) and you can then use your 808 batteries with 510 threaded pieces. That's cheaper than buying 510 batteries. Also, if you buy the 510 mega batteries, then you're still going to have to buy a charger (you cannot charge a 510 battery on an 808 charger - unless you get the adapter in reverse). But if what you want to do is to be able to use 510 threaded cartos and attys on an 808 battery, the cheapest way to accomplish this (not buying new batteries, chargers, etc) is with the adapter.
