I just order the KR808 Mega XL E2 Cartomizer - Ceramic v4 a few days ago and after reading some of the other threads I'm a little worried. Do they really work? And how do I take care of them? What do I need to do when I first get them. I think that I read somewhere that I should dry burn them first is that right?

I usually use boiling water to clean my cartos is that still okay to use with these or do I really need to buy grain alcohol? (Would rather not have teenagers in the house all the time)

If someone could give me a quick run down of the care and handling of these I would really appreciate it.

Thanks
M

I've been using these since r2 and must say, so far the r4's are great (if you get the real deal). I'm currently using an 808 XL and 510 XL, both doing well so far. Here are a few basic guidelines:

-Disturbing the filler ring (the one over the cup w/ two small holes) can create leak problems. It's possible (but tricky) to re-seat (there's also a rather simple PTB mod that can be done).

-The primer is not on all but a dry burn removes it (10 second burst work. Burn until no 'smoke' is seen). Some people rinse then dry burn, I just do the dry burn. **I haven't run across primer on the r4, so this may be a moot point.

- I find it better to hit these w/ a shorter pull, about 2-3 seconds. If it wicks slow you can also tip upside down for a few seconds to replenish the wick (or just take shorter drags). This is especially true if you using the lower ohm cartos that COV sells, the 2.5.
