Well I just received My nice shiny copper 10 ML Kraken for fast tech. This unit only set me 15 buck what a deal. Ok as far as tt being a fastech item everything was up to par.

I watch so many reviews on this unit I thought since my wife was placing a order already I would pick 1 up. Well first off the unit is way to big and 2nd it only holds 5ml so this is totally false advertising. This is one bloated piece My wife TiaFun hold just as much juice and it still a 22mm unit. The kraken is a 28 mm unit making just a big fat blob.

On the deck has phillips screws that don't even unscrew right they bind after you back them out just 1 turn also they are poorly made every screw driver I tried on them seem to slip then do give extras but I am sure they will be needed.

Next the deck the negative screw has no post and the positive post is a pain to get the leads from both coils on and secure them so the deck was just terrible to build on. I really do not see what all the craze was on this mod.

After a dozen of so set of coils that everyone says should 3 mm I found that not to work very well at all ending up with coils of 4 wraps trying to get this built at just under a ohm. Finally I scraped the the 3 mm and went to 2.38 mm with 9 wraps and most of the builds I seen where open coils keeping the wire separated that was terrible so I just made me a 9 wrap pair of Micro coils ending at about .8 Ohms that worked much better and also using natural cotton wick.

So I got it working very go at this point as long as you are a lung hitter it fine. I have yet to get a good tight draw working right. I need a dozen builds to get that working I am sure.

The other thing about this unit is it noisy it whistles with air flow wide open so I plan in my build to get the vape temp right with it closed about 25 percent to avoid sounding like I was playing the flute.

So in the end I would say this get about a 5 out of 10 from me the deck made building very hard, poor quality hardware, noise operation, Unnecessary oversized unit to hold only 5 ml of juice, really need to used on a 28 mm PVD

Not a good unit for mouth draw best suited to lung hitter

Big NASTY DRIP TIP!! This thing is pure junk first thing that had to go

Pros

The finish was nice on the copper, it has glass clear tube so you can vap and juice without worry of cracking, Air control works great all but the noise when wide open.

Works well as a Auto Dripper mode getting close as you can get to dripping with a tanks

I just don't see why the fuss over this unit it just is not all that great my Kayfun and my Tia fun blows it away for flavor and vape quality

For some that vapes as a hobby and like to try lots of build I guess it would be great once you get a decent set of screws for it, I would get them a bit longer and put a few small washers on the deck that would set the coil off the deck with having to tweak the coils to lift them off the deck.

IMHO I would not buy one of these unless you have been into rebuilding for a good bit and feel comfortable with using many types of wicking material like SS cable or screen eco wool silica.

Last big issue it the Positive post for dual coils is barbaric trying to wrap and tighten 2 coils at the same time is a pain also one could has to be a right hand wrap and the other has to be a left hand wrap but both leads must be wrapped in the same direction as the screw tightens and you need to get one full wrap around that center post screw and make sure you keep some alignment pins in the coils til everything get tight.

Cotton can be used but its tricky you really got to keep it loose it swells when wet and if you tread it thru the deck to tight it will choke the flow.

Like I said I have it working pretty decent right now but a good bit of cussing and wire was used to get it right for me. So it can produce very good vape and flavor as long as you spend the time to get it right and you will spend some time

So I would say this is for advanced users that have built many rebuildables before messing with Kraken it a monster in all ways most not good.

I not say its not a good mod in the right hands because it is very good once you work the bugs out but plan on getting a few grey hairs in the process and send the kid out the room LOL

Well I would say I have it working great. It not that it don't have potential to be a great vape it just that it should not be your first or 2nd unit. They make it look easy in the reviews on Youtube but the truth is, It's not easy to use at all but with time and effort it can be a nice item. I just think folk should know if your just getting into rebuildable that units like the Tiafun and kayfun are better choices for the first time rebuildables.

The whole reason I posted this was just to tell folks just starting into rebuildables that picking a unit like the Kayfun the chances of you have good success will be much better if if you use these devices till you get your feet wet or should i say til you get your wick wet LOL

I'd highly recommend the RSST if you're looking for an easy to use atty to dip your toe into the genesis waters. It's also an authentic that can be had for $30 or less many places online.

Picked up a Pyrex one as my first RBA and had it up and running well with a unoxidized mesh wick in 2 tries (first try came in at too high of a resistance for my liking).

Well yes because the Kayfun and Tiafun have a more restricted draw that do smoke more natural and without drilling them U can't make the clouds true but in the same sense the big clouds don't mean big flavor. I am a bit more a Flavor chaser then a cloud chaser. The Kraken makes great plums even at .9 OHMs on my Kuma Copper Mech mod.

Now my Kayfun make every bit as dense and even more dense of a cloud just not as big of a cloud. But in comparing My Kayfun for easy of use and easy of build and even in craftsmanship the kayfun is like a world better made and has that natural feel like your really smoking. since I am trying to quite smoking I feel it also gives me way better chance to succeed quitting cigs

I would say the Kraken is for the hobby vapor and the Kayfun is the way better device to help get u to quit cigs.

The biggest point I was making as is that for first time and even the first 10 times the Kraken is not for beginner builders, it take lot a fuss, tweaking to get it right on a mech mod. Now it would have been a bit easier on a PVD like the DNA30 but on something like my Kuma Mod tuning is all in the coil and 2 of them at that on a deck that is far from well designed and then fact that this was the 28mm version that did even make it easier than it would have been on the 22mm version.

The other really big thing was false statement of a 10 ML capacity and when they say 10ml and 5ml is tops that a flat out lie.

Ok my wifes Tiafun holds about 4.5ml and it said to be 5ml that close enough to call it a 5ml device and its only a 22mm unit the Kraken is a huge 28mm device that only holds 5ml so it way oversized now i have to buy a 26650 device to get something in proportion. when if I wanted a 5 ml device that could stay 22mm the Tiafun is a way better mod all the way around and with a quick shot with the drill on the air hole it could be converted for free in the cloud chaser without the need of buying a 28mm PVD

Like I said The 10ml/5ml kraken I feel is not worth the trouble when bought it to have that big 10 ML and it ends up 5ml and needing to buy a 28mm pvd so it looks like something that does not have a nuclear warhead on top.

IMHO its a poorly made devise for only a 5ml capacity and it really not a bit appealing to look at it just a big fat blob I just would not recommend this device unless 1) you have a 28mm PVD already and your looking for something to top it off.
2) You have been building a good amount of time and know how to use every kind of wick on the market to be able to tune the kraken
3) your doing for a hobby

This is not a device to help u quit its a toy for big clouds and not so great of flavor

Look here first build for my wife Tiafun about 8 mins from unpacking to first vape oh and she is still using the very fist coils she made she had also been doing some other rebuild on disposable attys so she had a bit more skill

My Kayfun took about 10min for me as it was my very first build I am also still using the very first coil I made

Now my Kraken from unpack to very first successful 3 days and over a dozen coils and wick combinations to get to a all day vape. Ok it does the great plum lung hits after all that time but so far no mouth hits that will take enough good 3 days of messing with it

Now the Tiafun and the Kayfun come with nice smooth drip tips the Kraken comes with a oversized terrible drip tip that for me is already in the trash can

Next both the Tiafun and the Kayfun can be drilled for free and be pluming and tasting better than the Kraken that takes hours to tweak to get it where u want it and that was even after I watched every Youtube Vid there was and in the end for me to get the flavor I wanted using the wick I like. I had to toss everything I seen in all these vids and make my own coils that were not at all like any of the videos to get it to come around

So here you have a oversized 5ml atty that is hard to tune and mostly to get any real flavor requires the use of stuff like ss cable SS screen ECO wool or silica, SO not very user friendly and let not forget falsely advertised as a 10ml tank that is 5ml at best. Cheap yes but overall I can recommend this product and those vids are rubbish saying how great it is

All in all the best part about it was it has a glass tank

I am not about to go out now and buy a 30 to 60$ clone 26650 PVD to put this 5ml blob on. I will keep looking for a better 5ml 22mm and get me a DNA30 or a Sigelei 50 watt and just find that nice 22 mm Atty to go on top and put this in the drawer for days I feel like hobby vaping

Thus the reason above I was being kind giving this 5 out of ten in my book after all those hours of reviews I seen saying how great this unit was I find them all false In My eyes.

As I said it has potential if you want to invest the time and material to make the unit right and spend lots of time on failed coil builds. I will add more about this after I get a tight draw build that I feel work well

As of now I have a nice all day vape build .9 dual coil 28ga kanthal build with a cotton wick that for me was first and foremost needed to be done and I do have it I will need to tweak it a bit more to get better flavor I imagine that will be some version of SS screen and Eco Wool will be needed to get the flavor and the vape in one package but I will see.

At this point I just can't recommend this version to the casual vapor doing his or her first 10 or even 20 builds But in the same sense if your that Vapor guy that been building like crazy for the last 2 or 3 months then this might just be perfect for you

This is just how I feel about It may be different for all depending on your building experience

Oh don't forget wide open air flow u could start a band as u being a flute player on this kraken terrible noise air flow

I'm quite happy with my small kraken from FT. The large one does sound terrible. The small one is nice. It does only holds 2.5 ml. It's my first genesis atomizer. I built it with one coil wicked with rayon. I left the other hole plugged with the included grub screw. There isn't supposed to be any negative post in a genny. You just screw the coil down to the base. Mine produces clouds of tasty vapor. I think the smallish chamber helps. It does leak if I leave it on its side for long. On the whole, I prefer the Taifun but this was half the cost and has a glass tank for my cinnamon red hot/extreme ice diy juice. It makes a fine addition to my atomizer arsenal.
I don't think the 28mm design was well thought out. It works great in the normal (22mm) size.

A(regular) kraken is easily capable of very good flavor, but like most things, it's all in the build. And unfortunately gennys in general require the most nuance to master.

Plus the days of massive clouds equaling less flavor are long over. There are plenty of dippers out now that easily dominate in both categories.

RTAs such as the Kayfun (and similar) still hold the edge in general utility because of their liquid capacity while still being very pocket friendly (sorry gennys). But that may be changing as well thanks to new devices like the Big Dripper.

Last time I used my Kayfun was when I moved 700 miles cross country (don't drip and drive) but as soon as I was stationary out came the Magma.

But I do agree that gennys are more hobbiest/aficionado devices in general, and definitely not ideal for a new user as a primary device.

well after finally getting this thing working great I was going to do a wick change and go out to get some good juice for it today as i was pulling the pyrex off it split right down the side so this is one dead kraken til i find a new pyrex tube really this was so poorly made I and just going to scrap it and chalk it up as a bad day. it was only 15 bucks so I get a new pyrex tube when I order a Hanna Mod DNA 30 for fast tech. I hope they carry the replacements then toss it on ebay My be the big dipper might be the way to go that a pump dripper right?

I need a god tanker with a open draw now closer to a drip device my Kayfun is great but I really don't want drill it for air flow then i will lose my best tight draw device. I have a dripper too but really even just sitting on the couch watching the tube is a bit messy as I vape 5ml + a day. I would like to find a tan with air adjustment and try another genny style but for me the kraken is just not the thing. I could maybe try the try the 2.5 ml version but i just don't like the build deck.

The 10ml version is really garbage from fastech it did not have the plugs for running 1 coil even if it had the single air hole for a single coil this was just a case of one of the bad items from fastech it was just a horrible. it so hit and miss with them guys but they are so cheap to buy from SO I have to find something to replace this now

Can anyone recommend so of the better online shops to buy gear from that has good prices and high quality items I really don't feel like waiting 200 week or more from fastech and need to find a good source in the states not even my Kuma mod being a pain and the power button section keeps sticking in the tube or the lock ring sticks so that clone was rather junk too it still work but now i have to take it apart to change bats at the extension tube spit

I anm thing now to either get the Sigelei 50wat or the hanna 30watt DNA 30 I think the dna 30 is the better chip and it monitors all changes on fly and the new chip in the Sigelei dose not and since I mostly make my coils just under a OHM I don't thinks I need a mech mod with my mech mods the power drops rather fast even with my Sony vtc4

So it look like it going to be a total gear change
