Kraken genny help please

Hey everyone. Long time no see. So I got a kraken genny atty and im having problems. Ive tried many many gennies and have never had any luck.

So my problem is this, every build I make for it has an awful burnt rubber taste. Ive had this problem on every genny I have ever tried. There are no hot spots and I have washed the crap out of it so I know thats not
The problem. I am using ss rope. Tired it whit ekco wool and 400 ss mess where the coil goes. Everything looks good , wicks great but all I get is burnt rubber taste. Really want to like these atties but I dont know what im doing wrong.

Setup is ss rope, ss mesh at the top, everything is very well oxidized. Flat ribbon wire at .7 ohms, Sony 30 amp on an astro.

Burnt rubber taste? You're melting the insulator.

I'm guessing this kraken is a clone from fasttech? Those clones are known to have problems shorting because the insulator is crap.
