no Kraken love in this forum? did a search and not many results came up..

just got myself Vicious Ant Kraken after spending some hefty coin.. it was a toss up between the Kraken and the Cobra. decided to go with the Kraken for its adjustable air flow (1 and 2 hole option), its build profile was shorter than the Cobra, and loved the look of the Kraken with its windowed quartz tank. came with an allen key, piece of steel mesh, and two pre-cut stainless steel ropes. build quality of the Kraken is top notch! finishing is beautiful, with clean edges and very precise engravings on both sides of the metal overlay. the overlay slots very firmly into place with a nice confident "click". it stays in place and no rattling encountered.

building it was a bit of a challenge. burnt out two coils before i managed to build up a successful one. used #500 SS mesh well-oxidized, with 28AWG Kanthal 4 wraps 0.55 Ohm. the mesh hole and negative screw are very close together. similarly, the mesh position and positive pole are also quite close. coiling it was fiddly, requiring a decent amount of positioning and readjusting of the coils.

loaded it up with some S&S Mods Pirates Brew, set the air flow to single hole option. the flavour is intense! much better flavour than my RSST. vapour production is very very good as well. set the air hole to full open which was a bit too airy for me, so turned it a little and i'm happy with it half open.

all in all, i'm extremely pleased with this addition. was discussing quite extensively with the seller whether it was worth the money and whether it would be an improvement over the RSST. well, he managed to convince me to take the plunge, and i must say it was well worth the money. now i'm not sure what to do with my RSST...

This is a great post and I was actually just doing the same search for Kraken info. I got mine Friday and my first build was dual cotton build and I ran into wicking issues. Ive been messing around with it for the past three days trying to get it to wick right. Ive built numerous cotton builds, numerous mesh builds and Im gonna try ss rope/ekowool sleeve next. It just doesnt wick right for me and Im running into constant burnt hits. I cant figure it out but besides the issues I really like the construction and look. Its leaps and bounds above my RSST and Im looking forward to using it more often when I eventually get it working right for me.

Absolutely loving mine. Using straight up SS mesh and 28 awg kanthal for ~0.8 ohms. Single wick. Wicks well. No issues with dry hits.

Looks crackin'. Gives a crackin' vape. Mostly protected glass tank. Adjustable air flow. Added bonus; I can leave it on its side without it leaking a drop. I attribute this to a snug wick and the rather small-ish fill hole. Not so small it's hard to fill, mind you. Some atties with small fill holes and thick decks just spew liquids back out if you don't get the nozzle all the way down to the tank. Haven't had this problem with the Kraken.

Not that I've tried a whole lot of different gennies; I honestly can't imagine any of them being significantly better than the Kraken.

chances are youve got too much cotton in there, which chokes itself out on the coil. look for a noticeable "shoulder" on the wick where it extends from the coil. if your wick puffs up to a diameter greater than the coil itself, youve got too much wick. pull that wick and re-roll a smaller one. keep in mind that cotton will expand as it gets wet so a wick that looks slightly small will likely be just the right size.

..Its leaps and bounds above my RSST..

so true.. i thought my RSST was awesome when i first got it. the seller told me the Kraken was in a whole different league and i found that difficult to believe.. until i tried it for myself! in hindsight, i'm glad i went for the RSST first, so i could actually appreciate the transition from good to better.

.. next I'm going to play around with a sleeve of ekowool over the cable..

what diameter hollow ekowool are you using? will the whole thing fit into the mesh hole? the mesh hole is pretty small (at least, compared to the RSST).

havent had a leak from putting mine on its side either. although, this is just on a stationary table top. not sure if it would fare well in a small carry bag or pants pocket..

glad to see there are other people enjoying this device..! not sure why there were lots more posts on other (relatively) similarly priced devices like the Kayfun, Russian etc etc but not much talk about the Kraken.

do you guys know where i can get another glass tank for the Kraken? maybe in a different colour, say emerald green or sky blue..

also, any of you actually tried a dual mesh build? the vape on a single mesh is already so good.. might try a dual this weekend to see if it's even better.

been around a while pretty fool proof and reliable many newer rba users arent going for genis. also more available, the kraken is pretty new and still selling out. kayfuns restock every other week.

ibtanked -pick custom cut tubes and fill out the options, many colors available, but you need to know all the dimensions.

@Roasty, You chose wisely.

I built two Krakens today; they are one of the best Genny's out. Used 26 awg, single wire. From the deck: one wrap, five touching (over the airhole), then two more wraps to the positive post (then back down the other side, all one wire). Both metered between 0.40 - 0.42 ohms. Difficult build, but one of my favorites. Can easily run 100+ mils.

I didn't snap a pic but looks something like this:

All my gennies are sittin in the unused bin right now, the kayfun style rba's with vertical coils & hemp fiber is all I use now, I always found gennies to be a PITA, and didn't use SS rope/mesh due to the foul taste, so I doubt I'll be checking this one out

Which roughly translates to "I'm much better at setting up Kayfuns than gennies". In which case; this is not the atty you are looking for.

Convinced me. I'll be ordering a clone, tho, cuz I'm poor. :)

do they make Kraken clones?

wow that looks like a pretty difficult build! impressive nonetheless.. taste and vapour must be off the charts!

I did that numerous times and just couldnt seem to get it right. The first one I wrapped was perfect for the first day and then it started having wicking issues the next day.

I finally got my Kraken firing right last night. SS Rope with 3mm ekowool sleeve and 5/4 wrap of 28g. Meters out to .6-.7 Wicks and vapes like a champ. I couldnt put it down. Lots of flavor and vapor and I couldnt be happier. Now for the rest of you Krack owners, do you guys have any issues with juice spitting out of the air holes? Mine spits like crazy and I always have to wipe it down. Also are your top caps getting crazy hot? I know a lot of this has to do with my build but Im just wondering if any of you experience the same thing!

yup my airhole spits a bit but nothing a quick pants wipe wont fix :p

i'm running it at 0.55 Ohm and the top cap does get a bit warm. havent managed to chain vape it till it gets hot, partly because the amount of vapor and quality of the flavour is so good, i havent had the need to take more than one or two drags at a time.

depending on how much you vaped that first day, you might have expunged all of that piece of cotton's worth. one tip is to make the cotton wick longer than you need. feed a good amount of cotton into the tank. then, when the part of the wick under the coil starts getting gnarly, you just pull the wick up a tiny bit, allowing a new portion of the wick to be under the coil. then snip the top of the wick and discard. repeat until your wick is too short to wick juice from the tank. after youve pulled you last bit of usable wick up into the coil, take the opportunity to dry burn. then insert a new cotton wick and begin the process all over again. bob is indeed your uncle.
