kraken

hi there I am new to this forum, I have been vaping for 8 months and love it. I started with the pro tank 2 and progressed through the kanger series of mini pro tank 3, mini aero tank, normal aero tank(fantastic piece of kit) and am now vaping on the kraken. I built single and dual coils in the kanger tanks so can help anyone if this is something they want to do, but now use the kraken with ss mesh 1.9ohm single coil running at 3.8v. it an epic all day vape I did mess with a bit of sub ohms and got large clouds but to be honest as a replacement to the dreaded fags the kraken is a beautiful vape. I did have many teething probs building the kraken but managed to sort it by asking some very helpful people. If anyone needs any help sorting the kraken please ask.( tasting burnt, setting up coils, making the mesh wick, etc) I did use a cotton wick but found it couldn't keep up with me vaping. I also vape 12mg nicotine tobacco flavour juice which can taste a bit crappy if not set up right.
I am not saying I am a pro just someone that is prepared to share advice if I can, just to help everyone enjoy vaping as much as me

Looks like you've got a bit of experience under your belt there, Kraken... Welcome to the forum!!

Have you tried wicking it with cellucotton yet? Wicks faster than cotton, but less finicky than mesh... just have to make sure that your tails are really thin going down into the tank..

I haven't yet its took me a while to set it up to vape just right, I know its different for different people at the moment the mesh is just right. I know what you mean about it being finicky but that's half the fun. you wouldn't believe the times I have been ready for throwing it in the bin. I only have the clone (which works fantastic NOW) but am looking at getting a genuine one because it looks so good.

I feel the same way about the Perseus... I ordered one in 29.5mm to match the 26650 Gladiator that I have on order...

I've not been in any kind of hurry to get a genny style atty, but it was just too perfect to pass up!

nice I am using the nemesis with a kick 2 It just looks and performs so nice. :)
I would like to ask due to the air hole in the top of the kraken you can't lay it down or it will leak, is there any ideas on how to stop this (without blatantly plugging it up) or is it just something you have to live with. its not a major problem as I have designed a new holder to keep it upright in the car (even though its probably illegal to use whilst driving due to the vapour cloud produced)

Welcome to the forum. My Kraken clone has given me some of the best vapes I've ever had. I had some problems setting it up in the beginning, and experimented with cotton like you, but now I can make it vape like a champ on mesh, and it's so much worth the learning curve. It just keeps on delivering smooth smooth vapor, day after day.

I'm far from an expert on gennies, but what I've found important (so far) is:

- Find the right tightness/looseness when rolling the mesh (apparently you have already been through that).

- Don't be ashamed of tilting. Yes a good wick may not need it, at least not when it's fresh, but I don't get why that is such a big deal in so many forum discussions. When I put my vaporizer to my lips, I usually tilt it anyway, so ...

- Oxidizing. When I'm done oxidizing the wick, I oxidize it again. And again. It pays off. Then there's the pulsing and massaging to get rid of hot spots. I've found that using five minutes extra on this step saves me fifty minutes of fiddling and swearing over the next few days.

I use a single coil couldn't really get it to work properly with cotton just kept getting a burnt taste. I like to have both airholes wide open I think in the early days that's probably why I ended up with the kraken even on my aero tank I drilled the air holes out to get better air flow. I did what was suggested the otherday and spent a bit more time oxidizing and pulsing and it makes a big difference I am having some of the best vapes of my life at the moment the trouble is I can't put it down. I'm not sure what other people think but vaping is 100 times better than any cigarette.

To anyone that's just starting out stick with it its so much more satisfying and its worth spending a little more money to start with to get a nice setup. I also used to use my aerotank on a basic 600mah evod battery and it worked quite well, not as good as a mechanical mod but managed to get a reasonable tasting vape out of it.

Just got a vicious ant kraken and can't get it to wick juice even upside down. I have no mesh cuz I messed that up. Cotton and 28 kanthal is what I got. Any pointers on getting this thing flowing? First mod. No problems with building coils. Just tired of toting a bottle to fill my patriot at work all day. Thanks.

Update....sterile cotton balls and got her chugging. Man this kraken cranks out some clouds!

I bought a kraken as my first atty. I tried really hard for about a month before giving up and buying a kayfun.

Imo it's not very 'beginner friendly'. I ended up getting a kayfun and am really enjoying it.

Now im a bit more experienced I'll be going back to my kraken and tying again. Been reading the posts on here and it's given me the incentive! I'll give it another go in my next day off

I never really liked the mesh. It was to much of a pain for me. Cotton couldn't wick fast enough. The cellucotton worked really good for me.

Definitely worth trying the cellucotton. I was ready to throw my fogger in the junk drawer until i wicked it with cellucotton. Got tired of puff, puff, burnt taste. It also allowed me to crank the wattage up a bit and get a pretty decent cloud. I just need to doctor up some juice to maybe a 9mg.

I think the Kraken may be a little down the line for me. They sure look sick ...... as Rip Tripper would say.

Best setup for the kraken I found was a 1.4 single coil. I got a drill bit to fit in the wick hole then took it out and wrapped my coil round it. Got my mesh cut it about 1.5 cm wide. Rolled it round a paper clip then oxidised it. The most important part was I dripped juice onto it then burned it did this 15 times stops the burnt taste when built. I made sure the mesh fit in the coil loose. Then pull some cotton wool and gently wrap it round the wick about 1cm so when you put it in the coil it is quite tight may need to gently twist it to get it in, and the cotton is touching the coil. Make sure the mesh doesn't touch the sides of the wick hole or the bottom of the tank. Juice it up and tilt it without the top on until the cotton it wet. Keep it tiled and give it 15 5 second bursts. Away you go if it still tastes a little burnt give it a few more bursts, make sure it has juice in the cotton otherwise it will ruin it. This is my setup which after a few failed attempts work's fantastic for me .

I have set a dual coil setup running 2 1.4 ohm coils. Had to remove my kick 2 as it came out as 0.7 ohm only problem is the amount of vapour it gave out was epic is definitely not for the faint hearted I had to use a 0 nicotine otherwise it was too strong. I hope this helps. If anyone needs any help or advice just let me know. The kraken is an amazing tank and when setup properly is a truly delicious vape
